Regarding the Gawker kickstarter campaign, why would you donate money for a business deal?

People have been giving their money to business deals for a long time now, but it used to be called "investing." When you did this, you got a portion of the profits of that venture based on how much you invested, and a real stake in the project

So why just GIVE them money when you could offer to invest? And if they aren't interested in investors but rather just free money, then it is not a "business" you should invest in anyway.

That being said, Gawker was a cesspit of irresponsible, unethical and damaging clickbait pretending to be journalism, and everyone should be glad that it committed suicide over a Hulk Hogan sex tape.

@4 Go fuck yourself.

@1 Nope, and it doesn't look like that'll be changing anytime soon.
6
the best President Asshole could come up with is "lightweight"? the hamster wheel inside his giant fat head is rusty.

7
@6: infortunately, no. He said the Senator "would come to my office ‘begging’ for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them)." As long as (some) white women continue to stick with him when he says this sort of bullshit,, it's going to get worse and worse and worse and worse.

Unknowingly? WTF?

@10:

you could just say that foolish choices led to a tragic sequence of events for all concerned. I never get why you law-and-order types need to be such stoic hard asses at every opportunity - this isn't a test of your manhood.

the valid reasons will be money laundering, collusion with a foreign government to violate US campaign laws, and obstruction of justice. no surprise and no sympathy!
16
@13. Your opposition to law and order boils down to unresolved daddy issues and the lack of maturity that it takes to see that with power comes responsibility.

17
@5 Juvenile expletives hurled in typical "Edgy Seattle(tm)" fashion. Are you wearing a Black Flag shirt?

@13Predictable "crime just happens" attitude complete with hostility and dismissive attitude directed at everyone except the criminals.

@14
Right on cue with some kind of castrating, retro 70's feminist comment about people able to engage the world without being passive aggressive.

You guys are great at liberal self-parody. Hilarious!
Kudos to the SPD for ending it professionally. Pretty sure if these scumbags attacked your precious snowflake comrades you'd all be screaming for blood on twitter.

@15: I didn't say jack about the cops overreacting. you point a gun at a cop, you're asking to be killed. it would be nice if they could find a way not to oblige, but in America, it ain't happening.

@16: I have no opposition to law and order. statistically, this nation has it. "law and order types" don't think so, which is why they have to hoard firearms. I have no clue why you're projecting your psychological issues on liberals.

@17: I didn't say "crime just happens" - I said a series of poor choices lead to them. 1. buy a gun. 2. fool yourself into thinking you can get away with armed robbery.

you 3 jackholes are great at conservative self-parody. particularly the part where you put words into other's mouths. it is not hilarious.

Remember all those times when you just so happened to accidentally wind up in a child brothel in Vietnam? Golly gee whiz I tell you what, you stop paying attention for 2 minutes when you're walking down the street and BAM, you're in the middle of a child brothel. Happens to everyone, right?

@20 Someone doesn't understand hyperbole. A "castrating comment" is something like one would hear spill from the lips of Kshama or Lena Dunhams Twitter. While there is no physical injury, most pocket dogs with their jewels intact strain at their leashes if they find themselves within earshot.

The Slog comment section is rife with Cluster B, C, and Dunning-Kruger Effect. Case in point: @18, who still insists on being angry and insulting to his taxpaying, salary earning neighbors than some low-lives (they wuz marginalized!) just because he has an issue with lawful firearm ownership. Do we know if the gun used was legally obtained?

Let's just assume that it was and run wild with the "blame NRA script" instead of - gasp - talking about personal responsibility, agency (yup, the same one the sjw's always invoke), and the self-fulfilling, crime-perpetuating pop culture narrative that come out of Hollywood and the so-called "music industry".
22
Who said anything about firearm ownership? Who's denying personal agency? Christ you wankers are boring commenters.

Why don't you go dig yourself some more hole about the thuggish, thuggish music industry.
24
@22
Okay, I take it all back. There is no ghetto violence problem, and comtemporary music and entertainment is very much NOT and endless carnival of hyperviolent, hypersexual garbage intended for unparented children mired in poverty. You win.
@21 You can do better. I lost my penis during an accident with a trans dominatrix and an rabid chimpanzee. You should have some empathy.

Please wait...
