Those aggrieved white men who form the bulk of rank-and-file Republicanism donāt care if they have to pay more taxes. They donāt care if their health insurance premiums soar. They donāt care if their children canāt afford to go to college. Surveys show that they are more devoted to Trump than to their own welfare, and they will follow Trump wherever he leads, even if he leads them to financial disaster. He voices their hatreds, and hatred trumps policy. Such is modern Republicanism.
It's classic American logic; we don't care what it costs in the long run, just give me the cash. It's why we drive 15 miles to Walmart to save $3 and wait in line for gas that's $.03 cheaper a gallon, even if they charge you two dollars to use your ATM at the pump. There is no big picture and we probably hate ourselves.
JFC Charles, your chart of tax changes is after the tax cuts expire in 2027. That's a really big piece of nuance to miss. If you think Congress will let those tax cuts expire in 2027 without any changes to our tax code, I'd like to try what you're smoking. It's a ploy to force the hard decisions onto what will probably (hopefully) be a Democrat Congress in ten years.

Every little bit back into the taxpayers pocket will certainly help fund Seattles progressive policies that have created a homeless problem, failed to stem increasing rents, failed to stem the increase the cost of living, will need to pay more in police salaries to take on the hassle of liberal hate, pay for roads, pay for transportation and pay for āfree educationā that has to somehow cover the operating costs, salaries and staff benefits of colleges. Oh wait- liberals have figured out a way pay for that by draining those necessary reserves only to later cry broke should a disaster strike the area and blame The President and everyone else for their problem later. http://komonews.com/news/local/inslee-pr…
