I think we're the only two people at work today Dan. I've never had such a smooth commute from West Seattle to Capitol Hill before.

Are magic beans a good analogy. Because Jack's magic beans were actually magic--sure, they helped him break and enter the Giant's home, rob him, and then murder him, but they still worked.

About Mr. Strong, I hope he doesn't lose his job; hopefully he's relatively safe from the Nazis because he didn't directly go after Trump--does any of Trump's cult really care about Mnunchin?

A lot of people are at work today, for that matter a lot of people were at work yesterday.

Yes air travel sucks now, even 1st class ain't all that great, try Amtrak instead, better for the environment, and there's a bar.

Also if you got into the holiday spirit, with some holiday cheer, and failed to very generously tip your bartender, you're a republican.

Thanks for that White Christmas clip. We always watch it on Christmas Eve.

It is worth noting, that despite what a mean schmuck Crosby was is his personal life - he was so supportive of Rosemary Clooney and her troubled mental states and depression in later years and Vera Ellen - a fantastic dancer who suffered from anorexia nervosa. Oh and how we loved Danny Kaye.

The Exxon-Sabic project, which will annually produce 1.8m tonnes of ethylene, a key building block of plastics, is just one of 11 chemical, refining, lubricant and gas projects Exxon is building along the US Gulf coast. The region is being divvied up in a multi-billion dollar push by fossil fuel companies that will fuel an anticipated 40% rise in global plastic production over the next decade.

almost all of which goes toward packaging and single use bottles, i.e. to the landfill or worse. What's wrong with these people?

Republicans, pundits, and dishonest far-left underminers/useful idiots pointed to Ossoff's loss at the time of his defeat as a terrible sign for Democrats.

Take a bow, Dan. People like you are the reason we have Trump. Calling people to the left of you (which, in your case, is anything left of dead center) dishonest/underminers/useful idiots is only going to help Trump by further fracturing the Democratic Party. The fact that you can't tell the difference between genuine criticism from the left and Trumpism means you're merely a Republican-lite who's down with butt play. That's fine - we all get that you're a trendy moderate - but that doesn't mean you understand people outside of Seattle. Remember, your perfect and inevitable candidate lost to a bloviating con-man. It's time to look in the mirror and contemplate what needs to change.

At the top of the list should be the shame-based Catholic Church-style politics you endorse. It's incredibly toxic (and exhausting) because it's so damn myopic. I honestly hope you can change. I'd much rather see you grow as a person than watch you become a bitter hemorrhoid on the left's asshole as the country shifts towards left populism in response to the failures of neoliberalism and Trump.

@6: Nobody thought that Hillary Clinton was the Democrat's perfect candidate, and nobody thought Donald Trump was the Republican's perfect candidate; but unfortunately, winning their party's nomination was inevitable for both of these deplorables.
8
Really raindrop. Do not ever put Hillary in with that crocodile trump. She has her flaws, she is a seasoned politician and she has a heart.
Some of those armpits are fine, thanks Dan.
9
Hillary was in the back pocket of the Wall Street bankers. Why do you think they paid her a quarter million a pop for a private speech. Do you think she was giving them investment advice on how to manage their hedge funds? She was getting and advance of bribe money.
10
@8: Yes LavaGirl, I must admit, in the final analysis, you are right about Mrs. Clinton.
11
You guys are funny. It's obvious most of your politicians are corrupt and in bed with capital.
Hillary is not a deplorable, she has done good work for decades, and why is that never mentioned. Leave her be, she's learnt the hard way. For a woman to be president she needs to have angel wings, no blemish and no stain. And good legs.

Re: Ambassador Gingrinch of Stepford-on-Valium

Nothing to see here. Just an adulteress appointed by pussy grabbing POTUS as ambassador to a pedophilia money laundering organization. -- Bambino

Brav-oh

@7: Plenty of people, people who happened to be very wrong, did think Hillary was near perfect and inevitable. Plenty of people thought Trump was perfect, too, unfortunately.

If you go back and read The Strangers Clinton endorsement for the 2016 Primary, they do treat her as near perfect - she's painted as a pragmatic "revolutionary," with her only flaw being that she doesn't seem as natural as other politicians. The whole endorsement is really worth reading now that we're over a year removed. It's totally cringeworthy, and the way they (centrists) tried to sell her candidacy completely backfired. Yet, they're still going at it the same way.
14
Anyone who gets the most votes is the actual POTUS, no matter how imperfect they are.
16
Never thought I'd see the words Vera-Ellen in Slog. She just ordered another malted on the train, and now all 83 pounds of her is trying to gag it down. Vera always had to wear long sleeves because if the audience saw her upper arms, the show would be over. Wonderful dancer, but she starved herself silly.
17
you're all mostly wrong.
18
@18: For such a declarative remark, your failure to capitalize includes you as well.
19
Talking to yourself again raindrop? And pansack, you are very very wrong, Max is right there.
20
@18 please stop beating up on @18
21
@9:

$250K is chump-change. The current occupant of the White House used to pull down $1.5M per speaking engagement - which he earned on 17 different occasions. So, have to ask: who's back pocket is HE in?
22
@8: All of Raindrop's equivalences are false. Along with most of Raindrop's "facts."
23
Anyone who utters "Trump = Clinton" should go troll Reddit please.

Look, the seat Ossoff ran for was a pretty darn safe Republican seat, or it wouldn't have been put up for digital election. His showing above that baseline was either a sign that he was a super candidate, or that the generic D/R preference has shifted. Anyone who tries to reduce it to "bottom line, the Republican won" is usually one of a rightist spinner, a lefty defeatist hand-wringer, or a "my special lefty would have won" job.

I LOVE you, Robert Strong!! I hope the box of horse manure had a spring inside to propel it onto its most deserving recipient upon many in Trumpzilla LooneyLand.
@2 seatackled: Quite frankly, I'd LOVE to see a horse manure bomb explode in Trumpzilla's fat face--and with postage due.
@5 anon1256: That is truly horrible. The ones doing it are hardcore white collar criminals who have no concern for the Earth or anyone else but themselves, and the ones buying their lies and 'GOOD JOBS NOW' bullshit need to be better educated at the polls during election season. Don't forget to vote and speak out in the 2018 midterm election to get this stopped.
@9 eilaboob: ...and Trumpzilla WASN'T bribed by Wall Street, let alone bailed out 4 TIMES by Big Banksters after filing Chapter 11 Bankruptcy?!?
@12 Original Andrew: As usual, you tell it like it is. Otherwise, ugh--it's a good thing I avoid Twitter.
@14 cloudbusdaddy: Agreed. Hillary is my president.
@15 nutsack: Pull your head out and get a clue.
@17 Max Solomon: No snark, I mean it--CMD clued me in and I now know you're one of us. Where am I still mostly wrong in my comments and views? The more of the actual truth and less FOX / KOMO / Sinclair media hype spread, the better. My heartfelt apologies for going off on your previous comment earlier. I'm all for being among those helping to Make America Think Again.
@18: D'OH!
@20 fubar: LOL Thanks for making my day.
@21 COMTE: $250k was twice elected 44th POTUS Barack Obama's annual salary.
Answer: Trumpzilla's sticking its ugly tentacles into the back pockets of the 99.99999999% of US taxpayers. And the Koch brothers own Mike Pence. Fuck you, Trumpists! I'm a college-educated white female over 50 and I vote!
@8, @11, and @19 LavaGirl: I love it when you comment. You're SO spot on. GO, girl!
Hillary is my president.
25
@22: You are incorrect. All my comments are one of the following:
- Opinions, expressed as such
- Sarcasm/Jests - Usually obvious in context
- Facts - always supported by a link

Unlike you, none of my comments are simply insults to other commenters.
26
- Facts - always supported by a link

Even though you have made *thousands* of comments here, you didn't link to a single one containing "[f]acts ... supported by a link"

Thanks for playing!
27
@26: Oh how cute.
28
@27: Yes, your complete failure to substantiate your claim here, about how you always substantiate your claims here, has a real fractal self-similarity of failure to it. It's almost a paradigm of the total commitment to absolute failure you bring to so many threads here, so much of the time.

(I'd ask you never to change, but, well, why should I even bother?)

Please wait...
