Marvelous and accurate testimonials regarding Doug's acumen and advocacy of music in general, particularly of the experimental, avant-garde and improvisational varieties. Doug leaves us with an invaluable archive of (mainly) Pacific Northwest practitioners of music that fall outside of the mainstream. Twenty two years! What a run! That such an opportunity was available for so many young (and older) musicians provided so much encouragement for those who perhaps felt they were working in isolation. A truly lovely gentleman and a warm soul, thank you for all your hard work Mr. Haire. I'm sure we'll be seeing and hearing you around! You ain't done yet!

Well hell, I never ran into this on the KEXP schedule. I appreciate the archives but it's not the same thing. Not to be ungrateful -- thanks for the tip.

(Tangentially: guessing by names of the people quoted, that's maybe one woman and thirteen men? Which does reflect the scene pretty well I'd estimate.)

This is a loss for Seattle. And with Sonarchy’s online audience, a loss for the world. Yet as Doug would say, he took his shift. Now it’s time for someone else to step up. Still, no one else can bring Doug’s big ears, discriminating mind, production expertise, and desire to assist with ambitious music and sound art projects. Thanks for everything, Doug.
