You first.

ā€œLeadā€ = present tense
ā€œLedā€ = past tense

Not that hard, Stranger reporters.
5
Also:
ā€œEffect changeā€

Sorry to be an asshole, I just canā€™t believe that professional journalists get this shit wrong.
6
Behold; Mostly white women who havenā€™t yet come to realize why 53% of their demographic cohort voted for Trump ā€” and polls indicate would do again.

Many will chalk it up to self-hate, and all sorts of other psycho babble bullshit, rather than make the honest admission that a thieving, inauthentic, careerist, sell-out, swears-there-were-snipers-in-Bosnia, rape-apologist like HRC was a doomed candidate.

And if youā€™re knitting a vaginal hat in suppprt of Elizabeth Warren as candidate, youā€™ll virtually assure a 2nd Trump term.

Yes, letā€™s have a woman as president. But letā€™s please stop running lying skeezes against the Republicans lying assholes, only to lose the no-character-whatsoever sweepstakes.
7
@5- I can't believe you think the stranger has professional journalists.
8
Lemme guess. Instead of the lying skeezes we need... Jill Stein?
9
"believe this gender" or "believe this subcategory of this gender" is bizarre
10
@9. Homeboy was there to crush tang. The word salad sign was just bait.
12
@11
Comment threads are the modern-day version of graffiti on a bathroom wall.
You can't get mad when the business owner decides to paint over the graffiti, because it's their wall.

Democracy has nothing to do with comment threads.
13
@12. Do you even try comprehending what you read? Or do you just look for a phrase you donā€™t like and then counterpoint off of that? The democracy @11 is referring to is the chants at the rally and the weird exclusionary narrative thatā€™s going along with it. NOT the comment board troll-a-long you seem intent on virtue signaling about.
14
@13

No, he definitely is not.
He doesn't mention chants in his comment, not a single time.
Do you ever try comprehending what you read?

He never mentions chance at the protests, he mentions comments on comment threads at the Seattle Times and at The Stranger.

Here is his full comment, again:
"i appreciate that the stranger is willing to allow any and all (i think) comments here - the seattle times has been deleting comments like crazy on both of their articles covering this. some of them were trolling type of things but there were many, many, many innocuous comments removed, even ones simply wondering "what the hell is happening here"

that's not what democracy looks like...."

There is absolutely nothing there about chants at the protests.

Congratulations, you look like a complete idiot, as usual.
šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

I suggest getting your head out of your ass before you suffocate.

@Muddy

One more thing.

What exactly do you consider a "virtue signaling" in my original post?
Is it the fact that I mentioned that a website's comment section is their property, in the same way a bathroom wall at your local McDonald's is McDonald's property?
I had no idea you were so against property rights.
18
@Muffy

"@muddy" was an autocorrect error.
( so is the word chance in the second paragraph of comment number 14. It should read chant.)

I wanted to point that out before you made some sort of ridiculous claim that I was attempting to defame you in some way.

19
ā€œThis is what democracy looks likeā€ isnā€™t a chant? A super popular marching chant? One that pervades almost every left leaning protest or march?

If you say so.
20
@17

I'm not too sure what you mean by "be that way".

If pointing out that the moderators of comment threads can delete any comment they want is being that way, then I guess I'm going to have to be that way, because it's the only way to be.

I didn't say that it was great that the Seattle Times was deleting comments, I simply stated that it was their right to do so.

Thank you for reaffirming that your original post was about comments on comment threads.
I doubt Muffy will care, because he lives in his own little world.
21
@19

Do you understand what context is?

He didn't say "this is what democracy looks like."

He said:
"that's not what democracy looks like...."

The "that" he is referring to is the Seattle Times deleting comments.

If you still don't understand this, please ask a nearby adult to explain it to you.

@15. Didnā€™t know skin color and gender were prerequisites for telling the truth. Seems like you could almost go back in time 60 years and apply that same logic to a different skin color and gender and have disgusting, shameful results.

Way to keep it pushing forward.
23
@21. I admit I could have read a different meaning than you into swamp thingā€™s comment.

Heā€™s the only one who can say what he really means. Your interpretation of someone elseā€™s comment is bound to be as ignorant and biased as you are.
24
@Muffy

"Your interpretation of someone elseā€™s comment is bound to be as ignorant and biased as you are."

1 Swamp Thing already responded to me , and he didn't say that I misinterpreted his comment.

2 What bias are you talking about?
The only opinion I expressed is that Message Board moderators have the right to delete any posts they choose, because they are the representatives of the owners of the thread.
Are you against property rights?

You did hit the nail on the head though.
Your interpretation of these comments has been both ignorant and biased.
25
When someone says "Remember the Alamo" we don't flip out because we think they're denying that Pearl Harbor ever happened. We don't have to bend over backwards to charitably interpret "Remember the Alamo" as not implying that the Alamo is the only thing we should ever remember. That's just normal thinking. Everyone gets it. Everyone understands that we can give the Alamo its due remembrance without forgetting the Maine or 9/11, or Pearl Harbor or next Tuesday's brunch date. We can remember more than one thing.

But "Black lives matter"? Oh my God! What about WHITE lives!? "Believe women"! OH, so we should ONLY believe women, nobody else! So sexist! Only believe ONE GENDER?!!!!! Misandry it's misandry yall it's misandry I've uncovered the truth wake up sheeple the chemtrails are real!!!

See how fucking stupid that sounds? But not if your brain is addled with racism and misogyny. For someone whose head is so fucked over with race hate and unrepentant sexism, an unremarkable statement like "black lives matter" or "believe women" gets read in the most bizarre way.

"Have a nice day!" WHAT, the crazy loon said, YOU WANT ALL MY OTHER DAYS EXCEPT TODAY TO NOT BE NICE!!!! SO MUCH FOR THE TOLERANT LEFT!

Y'all crazy. This is getting to you. You need a vacation.

Thank you for taking the time to make the post, Nathalie (and of course for being there). I noticed a reporter inside Cal Anderson Park taking a statement from someone with a pad and pencil, whom I assumed was from the Stranger, but didn't want to interrupt just to give a handshake. So, if that was you, know that I wanted to do so, because I appreciate the work you are doing.

This was the first march I've taken part in, and I'm glad to have been a part of it. It was reassuring to be surrounded by happy, informed, reasonable people who wanted to make their voices heard, even if it was just for one day. I plan to be there for the inevitable Science March 2.0, as well as the Show Us Your Tax Return, You Goddamn Crook 2.0. Maybe then I'll bring a sign too.
29
How does one know that a comment section has deleted comments? If they are deleted, how do you know they were there in the first place? Did you keep checking back? Did your comment get deleted? I am curious.
30
Thank you, Nathalie Graham and all participants! This is wonderful!
@28 Knat (Nathalie and others): I'm so glad you were there! I am bummed that this year I goofed on the date and time of my local Womxn's March--and ended up missing it due to an unexpected illness. *sigh* At least I was there in spirit. I plan to make the next ones though, dammit! I'm with you, too, on Show Us Your Tax Return, You Goddam Crook 2.0 and Science March 2.0.

@4 Thank you for your helpful note. Humans at work.

Please wait...
