I love the U bookstore. It isn't flashy, cozy, retro, or particularly chic, they just sell lots of books, independently, no nonsense, with great staff, and have done so for decades. Their plastic bags with the actual drawstring, so great for hauling books around in, will always hold a place in my heart. So to (to a lesser extent) will that weird noisy cloth hand-drier thingy they had in the Men's room back in the 90s (do those still exist anymore?). As a kid I always felt so urban and literate when I used it.
The fact that there are still 105 African-American bookstores in the US sounds like pretty good news. I just hope that count doesn't include the campus bookstores at all 104 HBCUs.
