Crew/label affiliations: I mostly work with Sonic Squeeze with Abbie Gobeli of KEXP and Sonic Boom Records. Last year Suicide Squeeze Records moved offices to Ballard, and Abbie was working at Sonic Boom at the time (she also hosts her own variety show Wednesdays from 12 am-6 am on KEXP). We eventually combined forces (and names) to do monthly nights at Hazlewood, and it took off from there. RightTernes is a play off my last name, which is pronounced "Ter-nes," not “turns,” but I got tired of correcting people and it works better as a moniker." —MT

Styles play
ed: "The heart of Sonic Squeeze is in Abbie’s Franz Ferdinand fan club membership card—we play lots of early-2000s indie-rock. When I’m working solo as RightTernes, I play a bunch of different styles. I start with one song that’s the thesis of the night and write my set around it." —MT

DJing philosophy: "If you’re having fun, everyone else will have fun. And if you have a 45 of Faith Hill’s 'Breathe,' always try to work that into your set."

Format: "I prefer vinyl. I like the challenge of being limited to whatever you’ve brought with you."—MT

Worst request: "Can I do a best request? One time when Abbie and I were DJing the W, Cam’ron was in the crowd and his manager asked us to play a song from his new album. He came over to the booth after to chat and took photos with us. Really nice guy."—MT

Upcoming events: "Sonic Squeeze" every second Thursday at Screwdriver Bar. Just One More Thing: a local label highlight of Suicide Squeeze Records 3/28 at Bait Shop
Shapeshifter at Corvus and Co., Saturday 4/21." —MT
