Clearly Bezos doesn't recall the 2000 Val Kilmer movie "Red Planet". We've been here before - and it doesn't end well...

@2: It might have ended better if the screenwriter was able to pass a high school science class. Even as a high school kid, I knew more about genetics than the scriptwriter, who listed the initials for DNA nucleotides as A, G, T, and P. (That last one should be a C, for cytosine.)

I see, clearly Bezos believes we will drive dogs (and most other animals and plants) into extinction, and he's trying to corner the new opportunity to become the first trillionaire living on Mars, after Climargeddon wipes out Earth!
