The silliness of this event is triggering for me. With all the challenges facing the city and country, spending this much energy on “healing” from an event that may or may not have happened in the 70s and 80s that you were not directly or even indirectly impacted by strikes me as self-absorbed.

Since no one actually knows if anything ever really happened between Murray and any of his accusers, shouldn’t media outlets and groups like this Commission take the blame for any “triggering”? If Heckard’s initial accusations had been met by our local media (and this Commission) with a polite, yet firm, request for him to return with actual evidence he’d ever met Murray, and pointedly ignored so long as he didn’t produce such evidence, his groundless accusations might have faded away before anyone else got involved, and there might have been little if any triggering.

Also, Heckard might still be alive.
