The arrest report says "As SUBJECT was approached by his defense attorney and Spanish translator he identified himself to court staff" and then "continued to speak to court staff as they communicated in Spanish and English".

So the Spanish translator must have been present for this "continued to speak", and the lawyer was with the translator. The conversation can be presumed to have included the lawyer.

In conclusion, this is some bullshit.

How about a state law regulating the manner of ICE enforcement when it would interfere with state interests -- can you craft it to fly?

He's described on The Stranger Twitter post as an immigrant. Then you read the article and discover he is here illegally. Seems this agent was looking for this guy. The guy is here illegally, and he is at court with charges of destruction of property--if I read correctly.

I get it, you are a Leftist magazine. You don't have to flaunt it though.

How about the next time this attorney speaks to his client he makes sure it's in a private place, not a public area.

#1 Local, nor state laws passed would regulate ICE. ICE is Federal.

I'm not in favor of malevolent immigration enforcement, but if immigration officials determine that people are here illegally and getting on the wrong side of the law, what is the problem with them not being welcome here?

Please wait...
