A bunch of brash obnoxious mouthy complainers can be almost endearing if they are also winning Super Bowls.
On a mediocre team that shit gets old quick.
Hopefully the Seahawks will tend to their actual business, which is football.
3
The Sonics and Mariners illustrious histories are emblematic of this towns reputation for building powerhouse sport dynasties.
The Seahawks have some mighty big shoes to fill in that respect and I see they are nobly rising to the challenge.
4
@2,

You forgot "uppity" in your little rant there friend.
4
@2:

Using that logic, why aren't YOU tending to YOUR ACTUAL BUSINESS, instead of complaining here about someone else exercising their First Amendment Rights?
5
Also, they won a Super Bowl and came within a few inches of another, so I'm not sure what you're complaining about.
6
#5- yep, you're right.
And the Sonics won one World Championship and the Mariners had a 116 win season.
And then lapsed into long, slow, painful declines as all of their buzz, all their mojo ebbed inexorably away.
So you are right, we shouldn't complain, we had our one moment.
We need to reconcile ourselves to our future of futility and despair.
7
@4a That is all yours, sport.

@4b A better question is why aren't YOU tending to YOUR ACTUAL BUSINESS, instead of complaining here about someone else exercising their First Amendment Rights?
9
Football would only be interesting for me if every player was naked and slathered in Crisco during the game.

Otherwise, I just don't give a damn.
10
@1. Your daddy issues are flaring up worse than your herpes, lil smoky! Rough week?

As long as CK continues his stance, he won't get signed. If he wants to get signed. CK knows what he has to do and say. The Ball, so to speak, is in his hands. I believe that all owners have the right to not sign him if he refuses to stand. They don't need a reason to not sign him.

He is the master of his own fate.

On the other hand. He'd make an Excellent Back Up QB. He'd make a Great Starter too.

AFAIK, Eric Reid is still Unsigned for the VERY same reason as CK. Won't commit to a No Knee season.
12
Was the Seachickens ever that kind of team? I don't remember them ever being that supportive of players that spoke out about injustice, or rock the boat in any way.
13
FACT: I would finally disavow my hometown team and become a full-time, exclusive Hawks fan if they grabbed up Kap!

Yeah, we like the feel of the wind in our hair....

I don't care about his politics. He's a spoiled child that would create problems rather than team build, cost a lot to do it and add nothing the Hawks need though.

Management needs to build up the O line so Wilson isn't having to creatively scramble every play for a couple yards. The miracle of last year was that due on part to an overworked defensive line and in part to Wilson's athleticism they did as well as they did.

How much time has Wilson spent off the field? So why do the Hawks need a tantrum prone backup QB again? There is an ongoing offensive line problem and some big shoes to fill on defense now. We need that punk like a hole in the head.
16
@15,

If you think Seattle doesn't need a backup quarterback simply because Wilson hasn't suffered a serious injury to date, you're probably not really qualified to have your opinions taken seriously. And you're also gonna need to provide something to backup your assertion that he'd "create problems rather than team build." Or wait, maybe you're right... I mean, here's an article I just stumbled upon that shows his 49er teammates were so resentful of him, they gave him a prestigious award! What an asshole he must be!

Anything else possibly fueling your distaste for him?
17
I miss the Sonics.

@16

Seahawks management doesn't have a problem with players expressing political ideas. Didn't they support all that standing during the anthem bs last year? And yet they passed on this punk kid last year too.

You're right, to a degree, though I still think a functional offensive line and filling new holes in the defense are more important than a backup QB right now. But I'm a spectator. How about trusting Seahawks management decisions on CK?

No, I don't like the child's politics. More even than that I really dislike a millionaire sports star whining about how unfair this country is to him. This boy has never been anything but a big noise in his schools and now his career. He decided to be difficult to work with, was slipping in his work anyway and now can't get a job. Asking me to cry for him won't get you too far.
19
* sitting during anthem, not standing.
20
The Seahawks should just sign the guy and accept that it's none of their damn business whether he stages any further protests. If the Seahawks are going to force their players to NOT fight racism(anthem protests are the only way they can effectively do so), they aren't going to be the Seahawks anymore. The last thing they should fixate on is appeasing Trump-at any given game, 75% of the fans were never Trump supporters. And he can't do anything to harm the team in business terms, as far as that goes.
21
Spike,
Gonna part with you on this one. Matt Caukins nails it:

https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/seah…

Like @19, I don't care about his politics/activism. The Seahawks made a business decision to postpone the tryout. Kaep hasn't taken a snap in the regular season since 16'. There's no guarantee that he is probably still good. I think Kaep has other things on his mind more than just pro football. There's a very good possibility that he would be more of a burden than a benefit. The general management of the Seahawks was just being pragmatic.
23
The seahawks goofed. If they were uncomfortable with him continuing to kneel, they should have worked him out and quietly passed, like they did last year. Cancelling the workout is a PR blunder.
24
The Hawks did right by cancelling his invite.

This is one of the reasons why no CK in Seattle. If some of you think he's GREAT. Numbers don't lie.

CK did not play last season. In 2016 he was 28th for Passing Yardage. And 26th for Completion. And 26th in Passing TD's. So what team would want that? Stats from NFL.com
25
CK is a distraction on a med-high team. 2 was absolutely correct. On a team, winning cures everything. If you are struggling, attention seeking loudmouths only make things worse.

Also, he could be a good backup but do remember that he fell off big-time from his SB appearance. Like, alarmingly. Like he was distracted or something. and not focusing on his job.....

Colin Kaepernick is very dumb and he pretty much sealed his own fate by not controlling his emotions. If not standing for the flag didn’t totally screw him I think the socks he flaunted with police officers being portrayed as actual pigs might have. Good job dumb dumb you’re done Son.

Please wait...
