The Democratic National Committee is celebrating 4/20 by filing a multimillion dollar lawsuit against Wikileaks, the Russian government, and the Trump campaign on Friday.

The suit, which was first reported by the Washington Post, alleges a vast conspiracy on the part of the Russian government, in collusion with the Trump campaign, to disrupt the Presidential election and install Trump in the White House. Paul Manafort, Jared Kushner, Roger Stone, Don Jr., and Julian Assange, among others, are all named in the suit.

“During the 2016 presidential campaign, Russia launched an all-out assault on our democracy, and it found a willing and active partner in Donald Trump’s campaign,” DNC Chairman Tom Perez said in a statement. “This constituted an act of unprecedented treachery: the campaign of a nominee for President of the United States in league with a hostile foreign power to bolster its own chance to win the presidency."

All of this may be true, which is exactly why special counsel Robert Mueller is still investigating claims against Trump, his associates, and Russia's role in the election. Perez and the DNC, however, seem absolutely unwilling to take any responsibility for their own role in losing the election to Donald fucking Trump, a man who isn't qualified to run the school board, much less the goddamn country. As I said on Blabbermouth this week, and as I said to anyone who would listen during the race, Hillary Clinton was a bad candidate from the beginning. Maybe it's misogyny, maybe it's her politics, maybe it's both, but for whatever reason, people hate Hillary Clinton. They hated her in the '90s, they hated her in the 2000s, and they hate her now, when all she's doing is taking forest walks and letting her hair go gray.

Do I think Russia interfered in the U.S. election? Yes, for sure. And I also think they likely have some extremely juicy dirt on Trump and his shady business dealings that could easily compromise a man with no morals and a massive ego. But, if Russia, as this lawsuit claims, is guilty of levering social media to control the election, how is that any different than the United States interfering in elections in places like Italy, Afghanistan, Nicaragua, Serbia, Iran, Iraq, Guatemala, and all over Africa and East Asia? As historian Dov H. Levin told the New York Times, “the methods they used in this election were the digital version of methods used both by the United States and Russia for decades: breaking into party headquarters, recruiting secretaries, placing informants in a party, giving information or disinformation to newspapers." Between the years 1946 and 2000, Levin found evidence of 81 overt or covert operations to influence elections by the United States and 36 by the Soviet Union or Russia. We do it too, guys. Frequently.

Now, if this lawsuit causes Donald Trump even a tiny measure of stress, I'm all for it. While my preference would be for Trump to rot in solitary confinement with only Hillary Clinton's memoir to distract him for the next 30 or so years, a stress-induced heart attack would be a fine way to end this sorry chapter in American history. But maybe the DNC should let the special counsel do its job, and get back to what the DNC is supposed to be doing: fielding a candidate who can actually beat Donald fucking Trump.
