Delvonn Heckard, who sued former mayor Ed Murray last year for alleged sexual abuse, died of an accidental overdose in an Auburn Motel in February, the Seattle Times reports.

Heckard sued Murray last April, saying Murray repeatedly "raped and molested" him and paid him money for sex in the 1980s when Murray was in his 30s and Heckard was a teenager. Heckard later dropped his case. At the time, his lawyers said he was in treatment for drug addiction. Heckard later refiled his case and won a $150,000 settlement from the city. He was found dead in February, but the exact cause was unclear.

Heckard was one of five men who accused Murray of sexual abuse by the time Murray resigned in September. Since then, another of the men, Murray's former foster son Jeff Simpson, has also sued the City of Seattle, alleging it failed to investigate his allegations and enabled Murray to slander Simpson.

On the day Murray resigned, Heckard told the Times it showed he was telling the truth. "I'm not just some crackhead, some criminal, some street kid, I was telling the truth," Heckard said.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office says Heckard died from “acute combined cocaine, opiate (heroin), Alprazolam and Diazepam intoxication,” according to the Times.
