I'm all for it. And before the conservatives say it, I will absolutely move to Copenhagen instead, if that's what you prefer. (One of the highest quality of life ratings in all of Europe? You better believe that's good enough for me.) Set up a means for me to emigrate there because I don't love 'Murica enough, and I will smile through both flights, and during my layover.

I remember during the presidential primaries reading something about Sen. Sanders having one of the highest "legislation introduced vs. legislation passed" ratios... that is, he proposes tons and tons of stuff but the stuff he's introduced has rarely become law. I have no citation so this could all just be hearsay but it's one thing to talk big, it's another to actually get things done. I've got lots of great ideas for this country too, but nobody's suggesting I run for president.

I love the ideas Sanders has come up with, but you don't need to be a pessimist to doubt that any idea of his will never see the light of day. The republicans and big businesses have simply conned too many rubes in this country.

Bernie Rocks.
If we forget to Dream we might as well give up living.'
Of all Hillary's sins screwing Bernie out of the nomination is the one that she will burn hottest for.

We're going to need something like this. Because eventually all the jobs are going to be automated and then what happens to the economy when nobody has any money?

@3 Is rather have a government full of Bernies than a government full of Claire McCaskills.

He may not grease the wheels, but he’s frequently on the right side of the law. Not always - as is the case with his voting for SESTA/FOSTA - but frequently.

"two other rumored 2020 Democratic presidential contenders"

Two other? You mean you think Sanders will run in 2020? Good lord, the guy is now 76. He will be 78 in 2020. think about it.

There’s so many daddy issues on this thread it feels like a strip club.
11
Haha. Wrong thread.

"Of course, this is America, where taxing the rich is considered government overreach but taxing the poor is considered character-building"

WASHINGTON STATE HAS NO INCOME TAX, AND YOUR POOREST 20% PAY ALMOST 17% OF THEIR INCOME TO YOUR REGRESSIVE TAX SCHEMES.

Just a regular FYI, because it needs to be mentioned again.

That said, I refuse take Bernie seriously until he can answer some pretty fundamental questions that have tanked similar experiments in the past like "What jobs are these people going to do?" and "No, fucking seriously, how are you going to pay for this?"

These are questions that have killed job guarantee programs in the past. Bernie is NOT proposing a radical new idea. He's resurrecting one that's been tried and failed. He should be punished for not telling us what he's going to do differently to turn failure into success.

He should give us real details. Not play this cynical game of demagoguery. Promise the fucking plebeians free ponies and ice cream mountains when you're out of office, and when you get power again...oh then it become the optimal time to compromise, work across the isle, and that whole mess. Because of course Bernie would never back a "neoliberal" policy like subsidize wages for ex-cons.

I'm sick of it.

Sick of it enough to say that I could see myself supporting Elizabeth Warren or Kamala Harris (or even Jay Inslee if he conjures up a convincing enough answer to why he's not done more to fix THE MOST REGRESSIVE TAX SYSTEM IN THE COUNTRY)...I'll never vote for Bernie Sanders. & I'll never vote for Cory Booker (who Bernie is copy-catting because he's an ego-maniac and good press for other politicians burns his soul).

@11, No...I don't think you were that far off.
14
@12 We get it, scumbag Hillary nutjob. You'll take us all down with you just because you didn't get the worthless greyhair you wanted last time around.
15
@11: That really made me laugh and I'd say you're pretty on the money.
I mean .......see @14
16
Say what you will but Russian originating fake news not only helped Trump, it helped Bernie in his run for the nomination.
17
@12: Bernie doesn't have any details, and will never give them, because the moment he even came close to mentioning the middle-class-destroying tax hike required, he would be laughed off the face of the Earth.

@18 You think you are not going to get old? Of course you could use Greecian Formula 14.

Please wait...
