Thiel is one deeply weird dude. He's the central inspiration for about 80% of the bizarre characters on HBO's Silicon Valley.

Fun fact: People forget he was also a speechwriter for insane arch-conservative anti-gay bigot Bill Bennett.

So Thiel, a gay man, wrote rabidly anti-gay propaganda speeches for the secretary of education.

Gandalf: "A PalantĂr is a dangerous tool, Saruman."

Saruman: "Why? Why should we fear to use it?"

[Saruman unveils the PalantĂr. It is a perfectly spherical ball, made of some sort of glass, with strange swirls in its depths.]

Gandalf: "They are not all accounted for, the lost Seeing Stones. We do not know who else may be watching!"

ROTFL! Millennials all of a sudden worried about big companies tracking them and their data. It really is funny since most humans with a smartphone have been, tracked, analyzed and watched for years by their smart devices and lesser apps they freely download and use every day. Some prime examples include:
Your camera tracking you and even watching you brush your teeth:

How about going back to 2015

Face it, when you run out and buy the newest device, download the newest social app and feel the need to broadcast your every move on Snapcrap, Instascam, Facecrook, TWITter, and the rest, what you are really saying is, “WE ARE THE BORG, RESISTANCE IS FUTILE”. Planatir and Cambridge Analytica are nothing compared to the pandoras box opened long ago to feed your tech addictions that have even resulted in deaths, like taking selfies off cliffs and bridges, playing Pokemon-Go on railroad tracks and driving while texting. For a generation that thinks its so tech savvy and tech smart, it surely acts like a herd of sheep in the headlights now.

Tangentially, isn't it about time for the sextennial intensification of the generally unsupported complaints on SLOG that Maria Cantwell doesn't do anything?
