Prepaid postage for King County ballots postponed: Thereā€™s a plan for the state to pay for votersā€™ postage on their ballots, but it isnā€™t happening just yet. It should happen soon, because I know a lot of young people but I do not know a lot of young people with stamps. I obviously have stamps because I am civically engaged and asked my mom for stamps for my birthday. The stamp thing was supposed to get kickstarted in King County during this election cycle, but the state wants it to happen uniformly across Washington. Secretary of State Kim Wyman wants to make sure every voter is treated fairly; she is pushing for an emergency fund to help counties statewide pay for ballot postage.

Boeing needs to clean up its act: The aerospace giant is going to be sued by two environmental groups because it has failed to stop discharging toxins into the Duwamish River. The stormwater discharges and sediments from Boeing that make their way into the river contain high levels of PCBs that exceed the legal limit a thousand times over.

ICE director is retiring: Tom Homan will be stepping down from his position as the Devil acting director of US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement. Homan ā€œoversaw a 40 percent surge in deportation arrests, along with other controversial changes including policies on making courthouse arrests and detaining pregnant women,ā€ CBS reports. Truly a pioneer in his field. His retirement is a real loss. He called the decision to leave ā€œbittersweet.ā€

Mayor of Columbia City faces life-threatening injuries: The beloved cat mayor is suffering from nerve damage and may lose one of his legs. He is a good mayor, loved by everyone. There were no unsavory facts about him dredged up during his unofficial election, he didnā€™t shell out millions to run Facebook ads at targeted demographics. Now heā€™s been visiting the pet hospital while the community waits for news about his fate. Felix the Cat, only unofficially mayor, lacks any form of secret service protection. His stoic independence may have cost him his life. But, community members are banding together. He has a GoFundMe thatā€™s raised almost $1,800 in one day. Godspeed Felix, fight the good fight. Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good golly, itā€™s May: How did that happen? May is that weird slow burn into summer. Itā€™s when the weather gets nice finally but it doesnā€™t feel quite like spring or quite like summer. I love the start of a new month when I have a whole bunch of free visits to news sites. They will run out by the end of tomorrow morning.

See? Slow burn.

Tacoma Amber Alert solved in a matter of hours: A 10-year-old boy was duct-taped and kidnapped outside an elementary school around 4:30 p.m. yesterday. A bunch of school kids saw it happen, recorded it like good Generation Zs, and called the police. He was tracked down and recovered by around 7:30 p.m. He was taken and restrained by his grandfather.

Puget Sound Energy receives tax cut, treats its customers: Rejoice! PSE is getting a $96.5 million cut in federal taxes and itā€™s choosing to spend it on you, the consumer. PSE is lavishing us in generosity ā€” our bills will be cut by $3.50 a month.

Trump offered Bill Gates role of science adviser: Did you know the White House role has been empty since Trump took office? I didnā€™t, but Iā€™m hardly surprised. We should do a tally of all the empty White House positions right now. Bill, lover of science, said Trump should probably have a science adviser. Trump, lover of money, asked Bill if heā€™d be the science adviser. Bill declined. He thinks Trump was just being friendly and the offer probably wasnā€™t serious.

Green Lake NIMBYs fuming even after homeless encampment gone: The encampment caused chaos in the Green Lake neighborhood. It packed up and moved out, but neighbors are still pissed because it took two months. They say thereā€™s a lack of accountability among city leaders, especially their representative, Mike Oā€™Brien. Itā€™s like the saying goes: Hell knows no fury like an upper-middle-class homeowner scorned.

All this scientist wants for his birthday is the sweet release of death: To be fair, he is 104 years old. Heā€™s Australiaā€™s oldest scientist and heā€™s ready to shuffle off this mortal coil. He blew the candles out on his birthday cake and is traveling to Switzerland where assisted suicide is basically legal. Soon he'll be blissfully pushing up daisies.

Waffle Houseā€™s press takes a turn for the even worse: Yeah, itā€™s in the news again. Waffle House is handling one of their employees calling the cops on a black person a lot worse than Starbucks did. The Southern chain is standing with their racial-profiling employee. Activists protests at the headquarters yesterday.

Mueller is making a list, heā€™s checking it twice: Itā€™s a list of questions for Donald J. Trump. There are dozens of inquiries about Russian ties and obstruction. The questions ā€œdeal chiefly with the presidentā€™s high-profile firings of the FBI director and his first national security adviser,ā€ the New York Times reports. They also touch on Trumpā€™s businesses, his relationships, ā€œhis treatment of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and a 2016 Trump Tower meeting between campaign officials and Russians offering dirt on Hillary Clinton.ā€ Read the questions here.

103 Uber drivers in United States accused of sexual assault: CNN combed through police reports in order to divulge the number of Uber drivers who have sexually assaulted or abused their passengers. Of the 103, there have been 31 drivers convicted ā€œfor crimes ranging from forcible touching and false imprisonment to rape, and dozens of criminal and civil cases are pending.ā€

Migrant caravan reaches border: Some members of the migrant caravan that's been making its way across Latin America have been allowed by US authorities to apply for asylum. Eight migrants have been allowed to step onto US soil so far. It is uncertain whether more people will be let across.
