The Great Ticketfly Apocalypse of 2018 has stretched into a third day, prompting music venue staff all over the country to burn their hair and shake their fists at the gods while screaming WHYYYYYYYYY??!!

The End Times began Wednesday, when Ticketfly, a giant ticket distribution service with contracts all over this city and this nation, was hacked. Or, as they put it, they were the "target of a cyber incident." Ticketfly has now been offline for over 36 hours, which is a big fucking deal if you are a venue, have tickets, or want to buy tickets to a show, say... tonight. Currently, if you go to a the websites of a bunch of local venues (e.g., Neumos, The Crocodile, Chop Suey, El Corazon, and more), you are greeted with this:

What Ticketfly does not mention is that the service was taken down by a hacker calling him/her/their/itself "Ishakdz," who, according to CNET, demanded one bitcoin from the company or else he/she/they/it would "publish database." One bitcoin is currently worth around $7,500 and Ticketfly, the hacker told CNET, failed to pay up. The hacker now has access to over 4,000 spreadsheets with names, addresses, and other personal data.

So, basically, TicketFly was hacked, a whole lot of small businesses are having a really shitty week, and it's possible that a hacker is going to release a bunch of personal data into the ether. TGIF!

Still, the shows must go on, so, if you have tickets to a Ticketfly event tonight, check with the venue (social media is a good place to start). It's highly likely that the venue will be unable to scan print-at-home and mobile tickets, so you might need to need to bring an ID and pick your tickets up at will call. If you want to buy tickets to a show tonight, again, check with the venue. Some are selling tickets at the door, others are moving to other ticketing services. And, most importantly, remember: This is not the venues' fault. The people working tonight are going through some shit, so instead of taking it out on them when you have to wait in a line at will call, be polite and thank your lucky stars you're going to a show and not working it.
