The deterrence argument could never excuse the immorality of separating children from their parents. And aside from that, its creating severe logistical issues, impacting workers and communities who themselves will be psychologically devastated. And as I mentioned above, creating a whole class of very angry and disillusioned people and the impact on society would be for generations.

All this when illegal immigration is at low levels anyway.

If there was a country where there was even a remote chance I could be separated from my kids I wouldn’t go there. Especially not illegally. That policy would be a clear message that they don’t want me there and I would stay away.

This a violation of basic human rights and international law which any decent person must not tolerate. Speak up now and demand that this city not continue to allow ICE (immigration and
customs enforcement) to have their office in down town Seattle and allow their agents to harass people on our streets. This agency is a clear reminder of the gestapo terrorism of nazi Germany and must be stopped.
