Who cares if a press flak has empathy or not? She's not making policy.

2

Sociopathic regime runs the country.

3

Squealer Hucksterbee Slanders perfectly represents the cruel, lying, hypocritical Evilungelical ChrISIStian a$$holes that worship Prezinazi AntiChrist and have no fucking clue what's in the Bible they love to thump.

Deuteronomy 10:17-18: “The Lord your God is the God of all gods and Lord of all lords, the great, mighty, and awesome God who doesn’t play favorites and doesn’t take bribes. He enacts justice for orphans and widows, and he loves immigrants, giving them food and clothing."

Exodus 22: 21: "You must not mistreat or oppress foreigners in any way. Remember, you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt."

Hebrews 13:2: “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it."

Jesus Christ: "‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’"

@3 does it make you feel good knowing it was this easy to get you on the side of defending biblical legalism?

7

If anybody has a family, or a business, or any amount of people who are dependent on you, that you are responsible for, you know that empathy is a poor strategy to lead with.

This thing sucks, it feels unnecessarily mean and harsh. But that’s only because you’re children. You have no idea what it means to do what’s best for other people by doing what’s difficult now and seeing them reaping the benefits of that later. You just want puppies and rainbows all the time.

Immigration has to change. And it’s not going to be easy, or nice, or feel good in the moment. But allowing our border to be mean nothing, our laws and citizens and sovereignty to mean nothing to whoever wants to come here is the equivalent of taking home every puppy your kids think is cute. Pretty soon you’re gonna have more puppies than you can take care of.

Probably gonna catch a lot of shit for that analogy, but whatever. My puerta rican wife pointed out as I was trying to hard ass my way through a discussion about this that I’m also the guy who makes sandwiches and brings shelter info packets with money to women I see on the freeway ramp begging with their kids.

I don’t like the practice, but i think the results it will garner will be for the good of our country.

8

@7: Lol, you think empathy is a “strategy.” Doesn’t that just say it all?

9

@7: The fact that you think our border "means nothing" is simply incorrect. Yes we need changes to immigration policy, but do you sincerely think it's somehow going to fix things if we forcibly separate blameless children from their parents? And anyway, do you not see that the immigration "crisis" is entirely made up and designed to distract you from how much money is being hoovered out of your pockets by unthinkably rich people who laugh at how easy it is to distract you?

10

@8. No. I think running a country requires a strategy though.

“We should just let whoever wants to come here come.”, is a really empathetic, nice strategy, but an incredibly damaging and stupid one. (See puppy analogy for further triggering).

11

@10: And do you really believe this administration has a "strategy" beyond doing whatever they think bum fuck America will like in order to get reelected, so they can continue enriching their powerful and/or batshit crazy religious zealot friends, along with themselves?

13

7

That's not what this is about though. This has nothing to do with immigration reform or enforcing laws. As has been stated repeatedly, these folks are availing themselves of a perfectly legal process. This is being done to inflict intentional harm and trauma on vulnerable parents and children in order to make an example out of them.

Immigration policy and enforcement is up for debate. Cruelty and inhumanity should not be. Is it your position that this treatment is neither cruel nor inhumane? Do you support intentionally harming minors for political gain? Is incarceration of minors and incarceration of adults (without right to representation) .. many of whom have committed no crime (or at worst a misdemeanor) ... an American value you stand behind?

It's cool if you want stricter to immigration laws and enforcement. But what's happening right now is ... on a basic human level.. indefensible.

14

@9. The IRS is the only one vacuuming money out of my pockets.

I have children. Immigration at status quo affects their future. It also directly affects my business. Competitors of mine use illegal labor and pay them next to nothing meanwhile lining their own pockets with the profits. I hire legal immigrants and natives and pay them better than a living wage, pass that on to my clients and take a little less in profits. The utilization of illegal labor creates an inaccurate cost of what my services are worth. I’m still competitive, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to come clean up other contractors messes and had the client say, “ this guy I went with was pretty affordable, but when people showed up to do the work, no one knew what was going on. Half the people didn’t speak English and I couldn’t communicate with them. The guy drove a really nice truck so I assumed he was good at this, but his workers show up 5 deep in an 88 Astro and butchered my house.”

Tell me how it doesn’t affect me again? I look at these immigrants as wage slaves with no recourse against their employers and I feel sorry for them. And it’s all so the real cost of shit doesn’t reach YOU friend. Your produce, meat, housing, maintainence, is all at artificially lowered cost because of illegal immigrants.

You want to help them? Demand change. Change that allows who’s here to stay, but no more illegal immigration (secure borders). If we can control our immigration numbers we won’t need an amnesty every 30 years and millions of people won’t be here living in the shadows.

15

@12. I didn’t come from bumfuck. But you did. Didn’t you, country boy?

17

@ lastlight. The amnesty these people seek isn’t from a traditional situation where amnesty is granted. They seek refuge from crime. Are they going to be safe from crime here? Anywhere? Aren’t we the gun murder capital of the planet?

It’s a better economic situation they seek. And who can blame them, but there’s legal immigration for that. Apply. See if you can get in.

I’m not defending the practice of separating kids from their parents. But I understand the reason behind the tactic and I agree with trying to deter people from coming here who shouldn’t. I don’t write policy so I don’t get to choose how we deter people and neither do you.

18

@16. If I commit a crime with my children in tow, absolutely they should be taken away. But I don’t. So they won’t.

19

Bible-addled nitwit. The poor thing never had a chance, given who her father is.

20

Its really sad Muffy what the drugs have done to you. I sincerely hope you get well and stop being a fascist. That would be a miracle but I’m not counting on it..

Her PTSD (from hysterically-religulous daddy Mike* and the horrific, brutal, mendacity-filled atmosphere that is today's Oval Office), should it ever be cured, may unearth a wonderful Human Being ... some day....

*“Mike Huckabee Blames Connecticut Shooting on Separation of Church and State”
ttps://www.truthdig.com/articles/mike-huckabee-blames-connecticut-shooting-on-separation-of-church-and-state/

From another article in Truthdig: “The former governor of Arkansas – a Southern Baptist minister who was one of the main contenders for the Republican Party’s 2008 nomination for president – took issue with Obama’s insistence that Israel freeze the expansion of all Jewish settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

Standing next to a new Israeli housing compound wedged into the Arab neighborhood of Abu Dis and abutting the looming cement security barrier, he compared placing restrictions on where Jews can live to the racial segregation of his childhood in the American South, saying, ‘I can’t understand it at all.’ ”
--Christian Science Monitor

And then, there's this:
'Fancy Nancy' - A Poem by Sarah’s daddy Mike Huckabee
“Here's a story about a lady named Nancy
A ruthless politician, but dressed very fancy
Very ambitious, she got herself elected Speaker
But as for keeping secrets, she proved quite a ‘leaker.’
Until now, she annoyed us, but her gaffes were mostly funny;
Even though it was painful to watch her waste our tax money.
But now her wacky comments are no laughing matter;
She's either unwilling to tell the truth, or she's mad as a hatter!”
Final stanza (I omitted lots of painful ‘poetry.’) (Your welcome)
“I believe in the integrity of the men and women who sacrifice to keep us safe;
Not the woman who has been caught flat-footed, lying to our face.
I say it here and I say it rather clear-
It's time for Nancy Pelosi to resign and get out of here.”
--Mike Huckabee

It's almost Father's Day, Sarah. Listen to your father.
You'll be glad you did.

23

Off with her head.

24

I'm surprised muffy hasn't trotted off to their Italian villa with their "non-white wife" and "children."

25

@24. Yup. Another sock puppet. But this time he was also a “homeless junkie!” That magically never needed no gubmint assistance and got clean and housed by using good ‘ol Amurican bootstraps!

26

@22- There's no "wonderful human being" inside this lying sack of shit. She knows exactly what she's doing. Stands there and spits out bullshit like that guy who used to get up every day and tell us how wonderful Saddam Hussein was. But this lying bitch is far far worse, because she has a choice.

If you commuted a misdemeanor with your kids in tow they should be taken away? Incarcerated in a Walmart with 1500 other kids, supervised by underpaid and ill-trained non profit employees, held for an indefinite amount of time with no representation? While you are moved across the country and denied all contact or news about your child's well being?!!

For a misdemeanor?! The equivalent of reckless driving, shoplifting, or public intoxication...

And to be clear, many of these parents committed NO crime with their kids in tow.

If a person commits a serious or dangerous crime with kids in tow, then CPS removes them ... in a completely open, transparent process with the goal of reunification ASAP.

This is startlingly different.

But I think you get that, and you're just proving Sean's point with this essay.

29

@17 "I’m not defending the practice of separating kids from their parents, I just think that it has some good points and shouldn't be attacked like this" is what you're saying. You just said what amounts to an "I'm not racist, but..."

It's an atrocious practice and you know it. It is a gross abuse of power and a human rights violation. If this is what you would even reluctantly agree to, then it is well and good that you are not in power.
