Correction. The United Kingdom's team was not poised to win the tournament. The UK does not have a football team. England does. And Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland were not watching any of their teams playing in this World Cup.

Not that any of this makes sense. Or about as much sense as Puerto Rico having its own Olympic team. Another argument for Puerto Rican statehood.
