Katie calling Newt a "diaper" is exactly the kind of BS the right is eager to see so that they can parade it around as an example of Trotskyist (that's what you said you were, right?) intolerance. Please be more nice lest you give them precisely what they want. I will be awaiting your retraction. Thanks in advance.

@1 So, let me get this right. You think that if only Katie was nicer, and didn't call Gingrich a bad name, then the right would totally listen to her, and would realize that Gingrich comparing Trump to Abraham Lincoln is one of the most willfully ignorant comparisons in recent memory? Trump is tearing babies away from parents at the border. He is the most openly racist president in a century, and the left needs to be nicer. Got it.

3

Gingrich, Trump, and really the entire GOP are in no position WHATSOEVER to accuse people of lying. We swim in a constant sea of Republican lies. They have an entire media factory devoted to lying, and a president who obviously, demonstrably lies over and over and over. If Gingrich is such a student of history he knows Joseph Goebbels was a big believer in accusing others of that which you are guilty, and thus which former leader Trump truly resembles.

Lincoln is frequently praised as one of the greatest Presidents of the U.S.. And for winning the Civil War, perhaps that's not entirely unjustified. But it's too bad hardly anyone knows the laws he broke in order to do so. He was the closest thing to a tyrannical dictator we've ever had. Example: Lincoln imprisoned people who publicly disagreed with him and suspended habeas corpus so they just sat in jail indefinitely. Chief Justice Roger Taney ordered the President to release them if there was no formal charges or trial and Lincoln considered throwing the Chief Justice in jail too, but eventually just ignored him.

So maybe Trump and Lincoln aren't that different after all.

@1,

I pity Trump's supporters and I'd like to help them, but they're still too stubborn and angry to listen to reason and logic so I mostly ignore them now.

I am merely doing my best to uphold the immutable science of Katie Herzog Thought (tm)

As soon as we get to enjoy Prezinazi AntiChrist’s head exploding live on global television from Rosie O’Donnell’s sniper bullet, accompanied by non-stop, slow-mo instant replays available forever on Youtube, then I’ll be happy to entertain the Lincoln comparisons. They both grabbed the South by the pu$$y, so that’s one example.

7

I want to know why Newt Gingrich is still blighting television studios 20 years after he was driven from politics in disgrace. The sweet release of death is the only thing that will liberate us from these ragged old mummies, ffs.

8

@7: Being driven from politics in disgrace is no reason to prevent one from being a pundit and author - he also ran for president in 2012 and his wife is the Ambassador to the Vatican.

9

@8 - I can't tell if you're being facetious ^_^

10

What does Benghazi have to do with anything these days? And what possible justification is there for continuing to lash out at Obama and Hillary when both of them are figures of the past, neither of them being responsible for any of the country's current troubles.

Lincoln was fighting to keep the Union together(and, by definition, to abolish slavery). T___p is fighting to keep from being driven out of office for abetting Russian interference in the last presidential election, for fomenting unjustified white male resentment at the majority of the country who aren't white and male, and for hiding payoffs to the women he had affairs with-NONE of which has anything in common with defending the Constitution.

12

@9: Not at all. Ted Kennedy, Howard Dean, Al Sharpton, all climbed back to the surface after unflattering events as well.

13

Uh...Ted Kennedy "climbed back to the surface"? Sure you wanted to phrase it quite like THAT?

14

That old whore Gingrich is still alive?

Pity.......

15

@ 8 - By your reasoning, we'll be listening to the Current Occupant bloviate for the next couple of decades while they replace his heart with batteries like they do Dick Cheney's. The fact that the third Mrs. Gingrich is Ambassador to the Vatican is so beside the point, and also so laughable, I'm surprised you included it in your defense. Clearly she was appointed to that lofty position so she could convince the Pope to change the Roman stance on divorce and infidelity. Someone who wears his tangerine-colored hair in a croupier combover wants to assure his spot in Heaven.

16

12: Uh...Ted Kennedy "climbed back to the surface" after an "unflattering event"? As Archer would say, "Phrasing!"

Disregard post #16. Thought I hadn't posted it. Could who ever mods the pages maybe delete the second one?

18

Well, perhaps Lincoln DID fuck up, not letting The South secede.
Let 'em take Amerikkka back, waaaaaaay back, to the Golden Glory Days.

(We're gonna hafta reclaim all those Nukes, however.
Fundamentally, they're too fucking insane to ever possess them.)
(Not unless you wanna have Armagederdone)
(then, they'd be Perfect!)

19

Newt needs to compare Trump to Clinton. He was so critical when Clinton had an affair but gives Trump a free pass. Nothing at all compared to Lincoln.

20

18: I've heard the argument that, had the South seceded, at some point the slaves would have overthrown the slavers by sheer strength of numbers and the Confederacy would then have become a strong, prosperous black-majority democracy. It's the fear of that that drives the push for vote suppression laws.
