"is pretty fucked up here, rotted rusty bridges holding freight trains, massive potholes, etc." Yeah, that's because they're $15 billion in debt statewide (WA is not allowed to deficit spend). This is on top of their $203 billion in unmet local and state pension obligations. And they have the eighth highest overall tax burden in the country. I love visiting Chicago but it would be the last place I would relocate.

Seattle used to be really rad.

It's still rad, because the rest of country is sinking with it, but it's not as rad as it was from like 90-05

I thought that since he moved to Chicago, that meant we no longer had to care about him.

Chicago v Seattle.

Murder rate per 100,000:

Chicago 23.8

Seattle 3.4

Rape per 100,000:

Chicago 52.5

Seattle 21.1

Aggravated Assault per 100,000:

Chicago 480.2

Seattle 350.2

Robbery per 100,000:

Chicago 353

Seattle 224.1

Poverty Rate per 100,000:

Chicago 13.3

Seattle 14.5

Racial Demographic:

Chicago 45.3% white, 32% black, 5% Asian, and 3% from two or more races.

Seattle 69.5% white, 7.9% black, 13.8% Asian, 5.1% Two or more races.

Interesting that the poverty rate in Seattle is higher, yet violent crimes is lower. Not sure why this is the case, but it seems we are doing a slightly better job than Chicago.

There’s ways to criticize classism without promoting violence against women...its just easier to pick on the kardishians cause everyone loves to hate on women.

"I caught up with Derek via Gchat this week, and what follows is a mostly unedited transcript of that conversation (so please forgive the lack of capital letters, misspellings, and sloppy punctuation on my end)."

Translation: I caught up with Derek via Gchat last night and want to post this ASAP since it's Friday in August. Please forgive this half-finished post and my lack of professionalism in presenting it BECAUSE WEEKEND!!!!
