On the one side, you have a bunch of fascist boot-lickers who absolutely worship the police, the military, and just about anything associated with them.

On the other, you have a bunch of anarchists who fetishize street fighting and paint A.C.A.B. on the home-made suits of armor and backpacks full of rocks they carry to peaceful protests, just in case any pigs show up.

Why on earth would anyone expect each group to have exactly the same kinds of interactions with the police?

Proud boys and patriot prayer have a history of threats of violence and carrying those out.
Two men were murdered not long ago by one of their members. Remember?
The police in Portland Saturday attacked counter protesters with flash bang bombs etc. and if one person had not been wearing a steel helmet he would have been killed.
It wasn’t that long ago that police protected the kkk and lied in court protecting white racists who were laughing about murdering black people.
Also these neo nazis were bragging about violence against the people in Portland August 4 before their arrival and that was widely publicized.

It's well known that both the police and the military are pro-Trumpf, generally speaking.

So why wouldn't the PPB stand in defense of the pro-Trumpf street-fighter forces that rally for supremacist / authoritarian --nay, racist-- reasons? Esp. in a city & state that has a long, glorious history of overt racism.

Gotta keep those hippie, anarchist, leftist types under control. Run 'em through the courts, flag 'em in the system for future tracking, give 'em a small but useful legal record.
