As usual capitalism will always take care of the wealthy: no matter your skin color.

2

79 is perfect high temp, cmon Nat! It’ll be cold and rainy soon enough.
But I love your morning Slog updates. Part of my routine now. Great to see yet another talented writing generation roll thru the Stranger offices. Keep writing and good luck to you!

Rich white dudes donate to Republicans. Shocking.

4

@3: rich white dudes donate to BOTH SIDES. you never know who you'll need to wheedle.

5

Boycott the Seahawks! Boycott the trailblazers! Boycott the University of Washington! Boycott the Cinerama!

6

@4: Crazy rich Asians do the same.

7

Kamala Harris is so dynamic, she makes things happen.
The contrast with our two listless Senators is embarrassing.

8

If your fair ride breaks, do you get your money back? Or maybe it's just considered part of the experience.

10

@7: Indeed, we hardly ever see them being interviewed for their opinions. Patty, a little more maybe.

11

It's not irrational at all. Rich guys aren't buying ideology, they're buying access to established power.

The place rich guys buy ideology is with their nonprofit foundations.

12

If Paul Allen thinks he's giving us all entertainment, then keeping the GOP in has certainly been entertaining, in a circus kind of way. Keep bringing in those clowns, Paul.

13

I'm really hoping the world will one day see a video of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in the format of Gustavo Almadovar. I'll bet Mahmoud moves his head in the same way.

14

I hear Kim Jong Un is a huge basketball fan.

15

“For whatever reason the ride is called El Niño.”

Oh great, another Mass-Mudede pissing match in the works.

16

heh heh, Paul's not doing that cause Jimi would... Paul's old enough to know that good art only happens when the kids have something to rebel against. Giving to the GOP is for the kids...for art, dontchaknow?
(my tongue in cheek with a sprinkle of truth and way too much projection that's obviously intellectually unsustainable by the likes of Paul Allen)

17

@7: you should look at what Murray actually gets done, versus her rhetorical skills, before you condemn. Cantwell I'll concede.

18

I'm behind on the Stranger's hypocritical boycott list. Who are we supposed to boycott today and completely forget by tomorrow? Any rapists I should be doing business with today? Got to make sure Amazon survived the Sawant protest. She sure put them in their place. Is her book selling well? I'm confused. Maybe I shouldn't ride my bike today. Might slip and fall on some streetcar tracks. Hope they finish that streetcar.

“Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything.”
--Colin Kaepernick brand new Spokesperson for Nike, Inc.

My God, Nike, what BOLD fucking move!
Kudos!

Will this become the corporate-sponsored season of Players vs. Flag Wavers?

I fucking Hope so.

(Trumpfy’s gonna hafta hurry it up and get his stolen SC seat filled, so’s he can force free speech dissidents into for-profit penal places before their impertinent Message inflicts the still-forming minds of our Youth. Should people start thinking for themselves, the far-alt-right’s dystopic Utopia is all gonna come crashing.)

20

@15 did Charles take up Cliff Mass's suggestion that they have a debate on climate change and the summer's forest fires?

21

Concerning Allen, he came right out and said that his $100,000 is for access.

In other words, this is corruption, pure and simple.

Concerning Nike and Kaepernick, sorry Trumpsters: when the corporations have decided to write you off, you're done.

But you're still not going to get me to buy into your assholery and greed, Nike. Marketing campaigns are all BS. Nothing but lies.

“As police officers continue to terrorize black and brown communities, abusing their power, and then hiding behind their blue wall of silence, and laws that allow for them to kill us with virtual impunity, I have realized that our love, that sometimes manifests as black rage, is a beautiful form of defiance against a system that seeks to suppress our humanity. A system that wants us to hate ourselves.”
--Colin Kaepernick

From the New York Times: “The Deafening Silence of Colin Kaepernick:
The former star is using social media savvy, and a total lack of interviews, to control the narrative of protests in the N.F.L.”

23

Please boycott the Cinerama, it'll mean a better seat for me. I was really looking forward to all the area teachers to have to hit the beg button, too bad the administrations didn't have the spine to stand up to them.

24

@20 Did Mass take up any offer to debate Climate Change and the forest fires with an ACTUAL climate scientist?

Nope.

25

Watched the Senate hearings this morning with a bit of glee over the interruptions. Republicans are still bitching about the Bork and Thomas hearings. I wouldn't bring up Bork if I were them. He turned out to be a whacko racist of the first order. And I can't see how the Republican senators can hold their heads high after what they did to Anita Hill. Absolutely clueless. Pampered sons-of-bitches who must have been raised on Pluto. It pains me that this Cavanaugh thing is probably a done deal. What a set-up.

27

@26, annotated

point to constitution for SC confirmation process.
slam Nike's support of Kaep exercising his constitutional right to make a statement.

tl;dr - David in Shoreline is a russian bot

28

@26 So go buy Converse instead

31

@27 - Nah, just an unthinking propaganda mouthpiece pushing manufactured narratives. Sad.

32

So just to be clear Paul Allen is ok when he's dumping a ton of money into a misleading campaign against Gun Rights but "sucks," when he gives to a cause you don't like??

That's called being a hypocrite..
