The closure was the city's decision and was not influenced by neighborhood citizen feedback.

That bitchslap is one of the greatest things I have ever seen.

3

ONE squirrel?

5

That Octopus had to be fucking pissed.

More people might sign up for the newsletter if you didn’t aske for first and last name. Seriously, why do you ask for that when you already got an email address?

That squirrel-nuts-in-a-microwave-antenna video has been kicking around the internet for a wee bit more than just three days now:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZkAP-CQlhA

That would be well over NINE YEARS, according to the timestamp, and I very much doubt that's the original source.

@6: Datamining.

There's gold in that there personal data.

@9 My kid's school is right near there. It's been sh*tshow since this camp opened up, with drug dealers, prostitutes and scumbags taking over 90th and Aurora. Police calls are up, break-ins in nearby homes businesses and cars have skyrocketed.

What the morons who open these places refuse to acknowledge is that while the folks inside the camp may be all hunky dory, these camps attract flies like cow patties. All the hanger ons, dealers, "buddies", "girlfriends" and "boyfriends" swarm around them like flies to sh*t.

Has there been any statement from TSA on the flying with pot issue? Whatever LAX policy might be, the TSA employees who will be looking at your bags are federal employees (Homeland Security). I'd be very wary about assuming that they'll look the other way, given that Orange Julius' administration has been very hostile to pot users and legalization.

Even if they were willing to ignore in-state use in the interest of getting along with California, you would be breaking Federal law by flying to another state with marijuana. It would be awfully easy for Jeff Sessions to wake up and decide he wants to make a point and crack down on pot where he can.

@11:

I guess, following your "logic", we should shut down every major urban center in this country, since cities are also known to attract these same unsavory elements...

16

@11 because 90th&aurora was the nicest place in the city before 2 years ago :worlds biggest eyeroll:

17

Tool sheds are the worse option for limited land space in Seattle.

We shouldn't have even one tool shed community, especially one's like the "female-only" tool shed community. None of these city financed tool shed communities should discriminate against homeless people, particularly men, since they make up roughly 65% of the homeless population. Males are just as important as females.

18

@11 You do realize that a little over 2 years ago that school wasn't there. I lived off 91st and it's never been sunshine and rainbows right off of Aurora.

20

"I guess, following your "logic", we should shut down every major urban center in this country, since cities are also known to attract these same unsavory elements..."

Nice straw man.

"because 90th&aurora was the nicest place in the city before 2 years ago "

It was getting better. Now? the sh•show is back and its directly related to that camp.

" You do realize that a little over 2 years ago that school wasn't there"

What the fu*k are you talking about? Before Eagle Staff was there it was called Wilson Pacific Elementary and Middle school.

21

Yes, the nerve of people like my friend who lives by the LS shack village to not want junkies and creeps menacing her, leaving their needles and feces wherever they please, stealing anything not locked down and peeping in her window. She really should be more welcoming and "listen to their stories."

Oh, and "NIMBY" is a demeaning and dehumanizing term. I prefer "people experiencing NIMBYness."

22

21, you win!

23

Yall do realize that homelessness has gotten worse in the last two years, right? That ALL of Seattle is experiencing it. Getting rid of the licton village is not going to get rid of all the streetwalkers, junkies, and human flotsam floating along aurora. A quick google map search of homeless services in the area shows half a dozen places that are going to be a draw. The northgate transit hub, karkeek park, and green lake are all going to be drawing homeless people to the area.

24

@23 Thanks for the heads up on data that we all have access to. Has it gotten worse, or has what constitutes homelessness been tweaked? You could have an increase in people entering transitional housing--which is not homelessness--and that would be considered part of the increase. There are a number of examples where the data may show an increase, but the methods of locating individuals may be better so you make contact with more people, but not necessarily are seeing an increase.

25

" Getting rid of the licton village is not going to get rid of all the streetwalkers, junkies, and human flotsam floating along aurora. "

Yeah, and if you keep feeding pigeons, I swear, you won't get a pigeon problem.
