they were in FG range, then blundered their way out of it.

it was always a rebuilding year.

This team is fairly entertaining, even in losses. Reminds me a bit of 2012, with the young guys stepping up. 9-7 will make the playoffs in the NFC, so things should remain interesting.

A FG would have won the game.

I love your recaps, Spike

Before the season started, I told my neighborhood bartender that I thought the Seahawk season was going to be similar to the Mariner season, except in reverse. The Seahawks would end up being a mediocre team, not too far away from the playoffs, but not that close, either. The difference would be that we would never be in playoff position -- we would never lead the division, or be in position to get a wild card spot.

There is another way this team is similar. If you are a Mariner's fan (even a very casual one, like me) you have to curse the sporting gods for their bad timing. For years Félix Hernández played outstanding baseball, but he was stuck on a terrible team. Now the rest of the team is quite good, but he is struggling. The Seahawks for years had the most dominant defense in the league. Recently, the offensive line was so bad that it didn't matter. Like the Mariners of a couple years ago, they had one part of the team that was great, but another part that was terrible. Like the Mariners now, the situation has reversed. The offensive line is pretty good. The offense itself it pretty good. But the defense is now mediocre, which means that they won't make the playoffs.

Yes, it is early, but the odds of us winning the division seem very slim. Likewise, I just don't see us winning the wild card. The schedule is not that easy. Green Bay and Minnesota may not be dominant, but they are not easy games. Carolina and Kansas City are much tougher (and Carolina is on the road). Speaking of which, the fact that this was at home made a big difference, and kept us in the game. I see this team winning 8 or 9 games but I don't think that is enough to make the playoffs.

@1 that'll only hold out for a few more loses. Soon people won't be paying that much attention to the Chickenhawks if they keep loosing and your quiet Sunday shopping experience will be fucked.

The Seahawks knew people in this town were feeling conflicted. On the one hand, it is nice to win a Super Bowl. On the other hand, we’re watching a bunch of black men develop a horrific brain-wasting disease for our entertainment.

What if we made you indifferent? One popped achilles, neck stinger, broken leg and bad trade later, the dilemma is over. So much easier to spend Sundays washing the Subaru now. Maybe we can put our merchandise and ticket purchase dollars into a fund for primary and secondary education in black neighborhoods?

Or just root for the Packers.

The Hawks treat timeouts as though they were Community Chest cards in Monopoly, to be used at random times in random circumstances.

And don't forget to how heroic it was for the seahawks to apply concussions to both of the Ram's best receivers. Legion of Thugs is just pretty cool.

"I cannot emphasize enough how, unlike in past weeks, there should not be a high level of recrimination against the Seahawks for this one." --Spikey

I bet coach Pete's relieved.
Hell, I'm relieved.
