Don’t bring pot over the border: Former Stranger writer Heidi Groover answers a question a lot of people in Seattle were inevitably asking—if weed is legal in Washington and legal in Canada, can we bring cannabis back and forth? Long story short, no. Go read her piece on it in the fancy Seattle Times.

Senator Elizabeth Warren’s DNA shows evidence of Native American ancestry: Trump is always wrong. However, even though he produces baseless accusations out of his ass, the important people in his crosshairs follow through with disproving all of his bullshit accusations. First, Obama released his birth certificate, and now Elizabeth Warren took a DNA test. After several years of Democrats asking to see Trump’s tax returns, and an unprecedented New York Times investigation into his tax schemes, there’s still little chance he will ever release them to to disprove any highly credible claim against him. Oh yeah, and apparently he pledged $1 million if Warren’s DNA showed Native American ancestry, and Warren now wants him to cough up the dough.

Trump will send Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to meet with Saudi King: Trump has threatened ”severe punishment” over claims by Turkey that journalist Jamal Khashoggi was killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, but Trump also said “he is wary of halting U.S. military sales to Saudi Arabia over the incident.” This comes amid an increasing amount of prominent investors pulling out of an investment conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, including, most recently, Jamie Dimon, the Chief Executive at JP Morgan. Here is a decent rundown of how this situation has been playing out.

Dear KING5, this cannot be in your jurisdiction: Sometimes you see something so confusing you have to devote several seconds to figure out what is going on—like, how is this relevant to King County? Why are they posting this? Now I am asking the same question of myself...

Jared Kushner looks great in his stunner shades, but may not be paying his federal taxes: It’s true, he looks both confident and playful in the New York Times cover photo for this article on how Kushner allegedly avoids paying taxes. It seems there may be discrepancies between losses Kushner reported on paper, and real world losses for Kushner’s company. Will he be able to weasel out of this one with his playboy attitude and cover-boy looks? Maybe!

Far right groups are becoming emboldened: And they’re out beating up people all over the country. In New York, the Proud Boys, a prominent far right group, got away with violently attacking protesters Friday without any arrests made. In Portland, Oregon, on Saturday, anti-fascist protesters clashed with Patriot Prayer, another far right group.

Trump’s surrealist painting: During his interview with 60 Minutes, a screen grab was taken that reveals an unbelievably tacky painting Trump has hanging in the White House of himself, looking quite thin and athletic, hanging out in what seems to be a swanky bar with other GOP presidents.

Trump can’t touch this: Despite threatening to withhold funds to “sanctuary cities,” the Seattle Times reports that the Trump Administration has agreed to hand over $657,975 in Justice Assistance Grant funds to Seattle and nearby jurisdictions. Trump’s initial threat to withhold money was in part due to Seattle’s policy that prohibits police officers from inquiring about a person’s immigration status.

Putting googly eyes on historic statues—pure comedy? The Savannah, Georgia government says fuck no. Someone put googly eyes on a statue of the Revolutionary War General, Nathanael Greene, and the city government says it's “no laughing matter.” But surely highlighting the event and tweeting about the story to gain national prominence—that couldn't encourage more people to go around putting googly eyes on more statues, right?

Peak New Zealand: Enjoy.
