"As everyone knows, we’re an ungovernable collection of maladapted hacks who are single-handedly reducing the IQ of this city by entire orders of magnitude."

I believe I posted a comment to this effect earlier today regarding a different post.

They also don't respect America.

6

Typical Republicans. Have a hard on for the Second Amendment, but nothing but disdain for the First Amendment.

These kids sound like total assholes.

But if you were a roughly 20 year who had grown up in a world dominated by Fox News—in that not only have they driven the national conversation for nearly 20 years now and none of the major networks or newspapers call them out for who and what they are but in fact went to lengths to defend them during the Obama Administration—could you blame them for not respecting journalists?

Look, I think y'all at The Stranger are great. Seriously: big fan here. And the WaPo's been doing great work for the past two years. But the New York Times has been bamboozled by the right again and again since Whitewater, ramped up the fuckery with Judith Miller and helped throw the election with James Comey...and, perhaps worst of all, has seemingly learned fuck-all since, if you look at the past two years. The Wall Street Journal used to be a beacon of great journalism, its editorial page aside, but since being bought by Murdoch, its actual reporting has gone downhill precipitously. (Yes, I know, it broke a big story today.)

What I"m saying is, these kids suck and are douchenozzles...but they're not entirely off-base neither.

" A professional politician with zero political experience." I didn't realize UW had affirmative action for morons. Hilarious!

9

You need to send Katie on this, she has a thing for uppity college kids who take themselves too seriously. Or does she only attack those on the left?

10

College Republicans: Mini versions of their hapless heroes ...willful ignorance; hatreds of anyone different from them; mindless gun worshipping, fighting even common-sense gun controls; no real plans for actually governing; just figuring out more ways to give handouts to corporations & the 1%

11

UW College Republicans - that must be the smallest club on campus.

12

@8 At private colleges, this is usually referred to as "legacy admissions."

13

@12
c.f. GeoDub Bush II

14

Since when are the sizes of college groups important?

15

This is petty and I don't care if they're using an image from these papers. If they're selling the artwork or passing off their publication as original or something, fine, but they basically just MEME'd a photograph that showed up in the media. Sorry guys.

16

Can you tell me how the article is misinformed? Or are you just gonna present a point and not back it up?

17

Fuck you

18

College Republicans are a particularly horrible kind of people.

19

@18: I think that as adults we should have the grace to let our youth freely serve themselves along the buffet line of ideologies discussed in our institutions of higher learning. Given that deference, they (nor any of their fellow squires) are not horrible.

21

Oh Raindrop. How you do prattle on....

22

20

no, they were accused of Journalism by University of WA
College Republicans (who've never even read .
Seattle's ONLY newspaper).

23

Yo, you probably the same people who claim that Republicans are destroying our right to the freedom of speech. Like yeah, I get photo credits are important (which is ironic because photo and graphic credits in blogs and articles etc. are a principle ETHIC OF JOURNALISM, looks like the writer from "the stranger" did't read the SPJ code of ethics before applying for a minor in creative writing) but are you seriously going to use that to justify infringing someone's opportunity to write a blog? And copyright is something extremely different then what they are referring to. If the graphic is a product from a "work-for-hire" artist, as in he works for an editor or for a whole publication like this dingbat here, than anyone can use it in the creative commons. They just have to cite the artist. And if the artist's name is "The Stranger" how the hell are writers like you supposed to do that properly anyway? Yeah, the blog post author did forget to cite the thing; but, these nimrods need to read up on journalism ethics and bylaws before opening up a publication. As a college journalist this is just outright disrespectful to the media industry in general.

24

23 I don't have time to go into copyright and fair use, but if you are a blogger and want to avoid cease and desist letters and fines - please remember that credit does not equal permission. A professional photographer friend literally makes thousands a year thanks to a legal service that tracks down websites stealing his photographs (whether they give credit or not).

25

@4 KKKen moron: Lemme guess----you faithfully report in to Mein Trumpfy via Twitter regularly, too, don't you?
@18 Catalina Vel-DuRay: Agreed--they truly are, and their rabid fixation on assembling and spreading their hatred and bigotry is beyond appalling.
and @21: I keep warning sugarlips about his high triglycerides, but he never listens.
@22 kristofarian: Forget it---muffy forgot to take her prozac again.

26

Whether or not they "respect journalists", the UW College Republicans ARE legally obligated to respect copyright.
