Itll be like this, but a car.
It'll be like this, but a car. LIME BIKE

You’ve heard of airpods, now get ready for… LimePods: Lime is breaking into the car-share market and they’re starting in Seattle. It’ll start with just a fleet of 50 cars but Lime expects to grow to 500 by the end of the year. I’m pretty sure that means the end of 2018 because GeekWire says that they’re expecting to grow to 1,500 by 2019. Talk about growth! The LimePods are tiny little branded Fiats. We’re getting more cars but e-scooters are still banned. Sad.

That Queen Anne fire was arson: Firefighters have confirmed that the fire that set a Queen Anne lumberyard ablaze was intentional. Gascoigne Lumber was established in 1926. It’s ashes now. The damage clocks in at around $4.3 million. The owners say they’re going to rebuild.

That rare disease that’s paralyzing people is spiking this year for some unknown reason: Acute flaccid myelitis (AFM) is super rare and no one knows what causes it. Most of the symptoms align with regular viruses but 90 percent of children who are afflicted experience muscle weakness or paralysis. There are cases of AFM in 25 states. Last year, there were only 33 cases. This year, from Jan.1 to Nov. 2, there are 80 confirmed cases, according to KING5.

Starbucks HQ is laying off about 7 percent of its staff: Our hometown coffee company is giving 350 people the boot. According to this KUOW piece about the issue, these layoffs are symptomatic of a Seattle-slowdown. Growth, people say, has reached its peak.

California is smoking us out: You see that haze out the window right now? I guess it depends when you’re reading this since it gets dark before you’ve even digested your lunch these days. Anyway, it’s hazy out! Most of the smoke blown in is hanging out in the atmosphere. Meanwhile, California is being buffeted by strong gusts of Santa Ana winds which are fueling these fires even more.

Paradise fire is most deadly in California history: The Northern California town of Paradise was leveled by the oddly-named Camp Fire that surged through the region last week and is still burning (it’s only about 30 percent contained). Today, the death toll jumped to 42. That far surpasses the Griffith Park Fire of 1933, where 29 people died, which used to be the deadliest fire in state history. There are still about 200 people missing. Conditions are still dry.

Stormy Daniels agrees that she’s a patriot: Chase Burns got up close and personal with Stormy as she honored the troops Sunday night at Dream Girls at SoDo. Stormy loved it:

Recount drama: The deadline for the statewide recount currently happening in Florida is quickly approaching. All of the votes have to be recounted by Thursday. There’s pressure on both sides of the aisle. The Republicans are furious, saying that this recount is Democrat “bullying.” Meanwhile, Dems are saying “each vote counts.” But, whatever happens hinges upon whether Florida can count their ballots fast enough. Or, on whether Gov. Rick Scott will confirm the results:

Um, what the fuck is happening in Poland? Over the weekend, Poland celebrated its 100th anniversary of freedom from imperial powers. Far-right nationalist groups bussed in to participate in the marches. The mood vastly changed after sunset when the far-right groups took the mic. Poland is a country that has increasingly become vastly ideologically divided.

The Seattle City Council votes to confirm the police contract: The council voted 8-1. SPD will receive a 17 percent raise. Lester Black has more here.

An online retailer has released new Make America Great Again Building blocks: So kids can build the wall! Lego copyright infringement and racist grooming aside, what a boring toy. Happy holidays, Santa got you this fucking wall you can build yourself, Jimmy.

In uplifting news, this is my new hobby: I wonder what this guy thinks of the new Detective Pikachu movie?
