Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh sides with liberal justices? Chief Justice John Roberts too. From Politico,
The Supreme Court on Monday declined to review whether states can block Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers from their Medicaid programs, passing on a pair of cases that would have served as the first major abortion test for the court’s new conservative majority.
Suffice to say the Susan B. Anthony List, a major anti-abortion group, is not happy about it.

Seattle City Council approves Office of Employee Ombud: The Seattle Times reports that on Monday, the City Council approved the creation of an office to "support city employees dealing with workplace misconduct, discrimination and harassment and to watchdog City Hall’s handling of workplace discrimination and harassment." Mayor Durkan called it a "historic and meaningful step." Better late than never, I guess?

Mariner's 25-year lease gets approved: The Washington State Major League Baseball Stadium Public Facilities District Board, or the WSMLBSPFDB for short, officially ratified the Mariner's lease to keep them here for 25 more years, reports KING5. And it's a good thing for every franchise in the MLB too, because what would they do without Seattle as their breeding ground for all the best players, who will inevitably go on to take better deals elsewhere in the country? The deal also now allows the Mariner's to sell the naming rights to the stadium. Rumor has it T-Mobile is next up to bat.

Heavy mountain snow, baby! Enough said.

A how-to guide on profiting from polluting: Then profiting from cleaning it up. DuPont just opened a factory in Saudi Arabia to make filters that will remove impurities from water, including PFAS, chemicals they themselves produced and, as The Intercept says, "caused widespread water contamination around the world." Welp, I guess that's just how the world works. You might recall The Intercept ran a piece not long ago about how those chemicals shrink people's penises.

What are these guys celebrating? Based on the intense jubilation, I would say they just won.

Washington State Bar Association sexual harassment claim: An events coordinator for the Washington State Bar Association alleges that she was sexually harassed by an executive of the Association's governing board. The Seattle Times reports that the events coordinator, Kara Ralph, "claims the agency didn’t hold [the man] accountable despite an investigation that backs up her allegations."

Judge temporarily bans sanctioned homeless camp in Olympia: And the ban was granted on the day the camp opened. Local business owners who operate within 500 feet of the camp filed for the "temporary restraining order." When will be the right time to make short-term sacrifices to start seriously addressing homelessness? No one seems to have a real plan, and any time any modicum of action is taken, it is faced with backlash.

32 arrested at the border: With their "Love Has No Border" and heart signs to boot. Their love might have no border, but it is apparently an arrestable offense.

Tonight's best Seattle entertainment options include: A stand-up show with Conan O'Brien and Friends, a reading of some truly bizarre Japanese short stories with Jay Rubin, and an evening of thought-provoking punk with Fucked Up, Narrow Head, and Dead Bars.
