The Stranger is one of an unknown number of media organizations, schools, hospitals, and other businesses that received bomb threats on Thursday.

In an email sent to the paper, an unknown person claimed to have planted a bomb in the building and demanded "20.000 dollars" in Bitcoin to withdraw the bomb before it exploded. "Nothing personal this is just a business, if I do not receive the bitcoin and an explosive device explodes, other companies will send me more bitcoins, because it is not a one-time action," the email read.

While something about the threat made us suspect we were being punked, Stranger management reported the threat to the FBI and gave us all the option to leave, which only Charles took up.

"We are aware of the recent bomb threats made in cities around the country, and we remain in touch with our law enforcement partners to provide assistance," the FBI said in a statement. "As always, we encourage the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious activities which could represent a threat to public safety."

We haven't had this much excitement since someone sent "anthrax" to the office in the early 2000s, but if anyone sees Charles please tell him the bomb threat was a hoax and he can come back whenever he wants.
