Slog PM tonight is brought to you by the Holiday Spirit: Also the velvet jumpsuit I bought but you can't see, the dress Stranger arts writer Jasmyne Keimig bought and you can see, black femme Santa, Stranger music calendar editor Kim Selling's vintage pieces, Jesus, and the Clock Out Lounge in Beacon Hill.
Missing link to remain missing: The city was planning on finally constructing the missing 1.4 miles of the Burke-Gilman Trail next year. But, a King County Superior Court judge gave the city the ol' "thank you, next" and told them to try again. (Am I using that turn of phrase correctly? Someone DM Ariana Grande and ask.) The order essentially blocks construction completely because, despite a thorough $2.75 million environmental impact statement, the economic impacts were not outlined. Rats!
The city's response:
City Attorney's statement: âThe judge found the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) was adequate in all areas with the exception of one minor portion of the analysis of economic factors. We respectfully disagree with that portion of his ruling and intend to appeal it.â

High wind, low power: High winds whipped towns along the coast of Oregon and Washington today. Trees toppled onto power lines. Power went out. You know the drill. Thousands of people are in the dark.
Looks like that cold front is moving onto the Coast now! Winds should shift to the west/southwest and start to decrease in a couple of hours there. #WAwx pic.twitter.com/4lRoNdNUqD

A suspected white supremacist was arrested in King County: The man, arrested last week in Lake Forest Park, was accused of attempting to carry out a mass killing in Washington. He threatened, specifically, to kill Jews.
Bumbershoot attendance was weak this year: Has the music fest bubble officially burst? Bumbershoot only had an attendance of 48,024 this year. In 2015, 80,000 people attended. That's a pretty steep decline. Hopefully Bumbershoot doesn't go the way of Sasquatch, the annual music fest at the Gorge that announced that it was dying after this year. (RIP.) Capitol Hill Block Party has also come under fire from the City Council.
Unlike Seattle, NYC City Council actually questions their billionaires: This guy wasn't going to take any bullshit from Amazon.
What we hear is that in pursuit of profit, @Amazon is a willing partner in Trumpâs deportation machine, which will likely lead to the deportation of immigrants in Queens, exactly the people they claim to want as neighbors. The response? They have a âstrongâ record on immigration. pic.twitter.com/18FYwYkxcp

Two men crushed by truck in Georgetown: The men were working on a truck at Les Schwab Tire Center in Georgetown. The truck fell on the men, crushing them both. One man, 55, died. The other, 29, is in critical condition.
Hey, this is a step in the right direction:
As promised by the Randall settlement, King County deputies now have to report when they point guns at people. https://t.co/6rTy4neMD3

After a stint in prison, ex-Trump campaign aide eyes Congress seat: George Papadopoulos served 12 days in federal prison for lying to the FBI. Now, he's thinking up clever ways to get his insanely long, and hard to spell, last name on campaign posters. He wants to run for Congress in 2020. Seems like the whole "pleading guilty to lying to the FBI about interactions with Russia" might put a damper on his run. He would vie for a seat in Orange County, California.
The Boy Scouts of America might file for bankruptcy: The BSA have been emptying their pockets to pay for legal fees. They've been funding defenses for a slew of sexual abuse lawsuits. The organization is considering filing for Chapter 11 protection.
Maybe this is why that little girl died in Border Control custody: A 7-year-old girl died of dehydration and exhaustion while in Border Control custody.
Border agents have thrown out 3586 jugs of water left for migrants in the desert.
They did this knowing that 7000 migrants have died attempting to cross.
THIS is why the death of Jackeline Caal, the 7yo migrant who died of thirst in US custody, should be referred to as murder. pic.twitter.com/pzSZPruJdU

Asbestos in Johnson & Johnson baby powder: The talc powder used in mass across Americaâor, at least it was a staple in my mother's medicine cabinetâis not as baby-friendly as Johnson & Johnson would like you to think. In fact, it's not person-friendly in general. The powder has consistently contained asbestos. Johnson & Johnson has known about this since at least the '70s. Over 11,700 mesothelioma patients are suing Johnson & Johnson. Maybe it really is time to call now.
A feel good story for the weekend: This is the good side of the gig economy. A formerly-homeless man in San Francisco is able to make $22 an hour as a scooter technician for a scooter rental startup in the city. It's the equivalent of someone who repairs broken Lime bikes before they're shipped back out on the street.
