Over the weekend I visited Los Angeles to work on a script project with my friend. But it appears I wasn't the only Washingtonian who spent the last few days swimming around in a completely fictitious California dreamworld.
On Saturday at approximately 5:00 p.m., just as the sun was beginning to set over Anaheim, the Stranger's Disneyland correspondent spotted perennial Republican loser Dino Rossi on the Little Mermaid ride.
Rossi, who suffered his fourth consecutive political defeat only a month ago, "was on the clamshell two over from me on Little Mermaid," our reporter said. Other Seattleites traveling with the reporter "agreed it was 99 percent him."
Rossi wore that same white, half-zip track jacket he's wearing in the above photo at a get-out-the-vote event in Issaquah days before the election. He sometimes wears the same jacket under his black puffy coat or his rain shell, both from Eddie Bauer.
When our correspondent began pointing out Rossi to his friends, Rossi reportedly "looked unhappy to be recognized." Rossi's aversion to public attention tracks with his behavior on the 2018 campaign. He spent most of his time on the trail speaking at private fundraisers with other Republicans, agreeing only to one public debate with first-time Democratic candidate Kim Schrier, who ended up beating him by more than four points.
Though Rossi appeared to be on vacation with family, he may have also been testing out the political waters. Rossi has dreamed of winning another election for almost two decades now. The only place where he might still be able to realize that dream is Disneyland, the place where dreams come true.
