@1: Congress itself is singular, it is Congress's.

@2 - I agree. I just found it interesting that there is disagreement among Supreme Court justices. Some prefer "Congress'" and some prefer "Congress's." The article didn't specify which justices liked which method. Maybe a liberal vs. conservative issue? Nevertheless, the CBO style guide lists "Congress's" but I guess if you're a Supreme Court justice you're allowed your own preference. This should be asked in confirmation hearings. We need to know where the person falls on the topic.

We post things to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr, blooming with the same lack fo concern field daisies exhibit over who might be looking at their petals. We know we're being surveilled. In the 1990's, we said that nobody on the internet knows you're a dog, however now we fully understand that everyone, from merchants to Cambridge Analytica knows exactly what species of dog we are. There are things we'd never bring up as topics to our boss or our family, even though both boss and family can read all about it and see high res images of that very topic on our blog. We post those same details to apps which geolocate us , to make it even more convenient to gather the most intimate details about the people standing a few feet away.

We do all of this using a discrete set of websites and apps. Because everything about everyone is on one or two websites- Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr- it's easy to compile complete profiles of everyone. Just take their Fetlife profile, their Tindr or Grindr geolocation, match it to their Facebook and Twitter feed, and you know everything from exactly how they like to fuck to exactly how they like to vote, and exactly where they are right fucking now.

The bets part is, nobody had to force us to do it. We were never coerced. We tell all willingly. And we act like they're doing us a favor by giving us platforms to do it on. We even mourn when one of those platforms looks like it might be coming to an end.

And today's Chairman can look at all these floral blossoms and decide which ones he wants to cut for his vase, and which ones to let grow wild in the field. Let's hope he likes your petals.
