The deck is stacked against them, given the shitty school they attend, their privileged community and what is almost certain to be their shitty parents. But a few such kids do actually shake off this sort of indoctrination once they leave the nest and become better adults. As long as that possibility exists, no matter how small it is, anything that can foster such a trajectory needs to be encouraged...such as staying in school, even one as crappy as Covington.
