Seven prominent local comics will be performing at the Pretty Funny Ladies benefit show on Thursday, January 31 at Laughs Comedy Club to raise funds for API Chaya, a non-profit organization that endeavors to eradicate systemic, gender-based violence and to empower immigrants who've survived human trafficking. Claire Webber will host while Natalie Holt headlines a strong bill that includes Nekia Hampton, Vanessa Dawn, Aisha Farhoud, Val Nigro, and Dewa Dorje.

Check out clips by some of the comedians after the jump. If you can't attend the performance, you can donate here.

From the press release:

Claire Webber: (Host) In her own words, Claire Webber is very happy to be a five-foot-zero redheaded woman because if she was a six-foot-four bald man she would be terrifying. Her comedy is what happens if you pour the vocal fry and cadence of an NPR podcaster into the personality of a chihuahua raised by sensual wolves. She has performed at the Seattle International Comedy Competition and is a frequent guest of Bawdy Storytelling.

Nekia Hampton: In her own words, Nekia is a wise-cracking, big breasted beauty originally from West Baltimore City. She moved to Seattle with a dollar and a dream and still to this day only has the dollar (the dream is gone). Now she’s telling jokes because therapy is $100 an hour. She’s been doing comedy for less than a year but has already opened for national headliners like Paul Elias and Jared Freid. She also featured in the 2018 NW Women’s Comedy Festival.

Aisha Farhoud: Born into a mixed racial (Arab/Mexican), rarely quiet household, Aisha Farhoud started performing comedy when she was unemployed and tired of Judge Judy reruns. Aisha has since performed at the Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival in Seattle, the Arab-American Comedy Festival in New York City, and the Westside Comedy Showdown in Los Angeles. She is co-creator and editor of "Aisha and Arijana" sketch videos with fellow comedian Arijana Ramic. Aisha can often be found at The Comedy Nest in Seattle, a women-focused but not women-exclusive show she helps produce.

Vanessa Dawn: In her own words, Vanessa Dawn is a comedian from Tulsa, Oklahoma now living in the Pacific Northwest. She has an inviting smile that welcomes the audience and a laid-back style of observational comedy that keeps the audience wanting more. Her style has been described as adorable, relaxed, and "a funnier version of hanging out in your living room with friends”. She has performed in the Blue Whale Comedy Festival, NW Women's Comedy Festival, NW Black Comedy Festival, and the Highlarious Comedy Festival, Fisherman's Village Music Festival, and several comedy clubs and casinos.

Val Nigro: In her own words, Val Nigro is best known as co-host of the hit radio show & podcast “Hot Takes with Hot Dykes”. She also co-produces Seattle’s QTPOC is Not A Rapper open mic. Her other credits include Femme Wave, Intersections Fest, and lesbian living rooms across the nation. More info at www.valnigro.com.

Dewa Dorje: In her own words, Dewa Dorje is a Tibetan American stand-up comic born and raised in Sea-town. She intertwines her feminist side-eye view of the world with raunchiness and upbeat energy. Dewa produces a monthly comedy showcase, "Loudmouth Cunts," and co-produces a weekly female-focused open mic “The Comedy Nest." Dewa has performed at the Crocodile, Gay City, Cobb's Comedy Club in San Francisco, and headlined ‘Deport This’ an immigrants rights fundraiser.

Natalie Holt (HEADLINER extraordinaire): Natalie Holt's comedy career started in Seattle, but her absurd spirit is the result of her weird and wonderful upbringing in Florida.

Onstage, she's a whirl of surreal wordplay who wears her heart on her sleeve. It's been said that she has "an ass that won't quit, and a mouth to match." Her comedy has been described as "an emotional Penthouse letter" with "jokes that almost don't work". Smart, dark, and timely, you'll find words to live by in Natalie's comedy.

She keeps busy as a producer of Seattle favorites The Comedy Nest and The Comedy Underground. She performs all over, and has been featured on festivals near (Bumbershoot, All Jane) and far (208 Comedy Festival, Asheville Comedy Festival, 10,000 Laughs).
