Ah! A bus fire!: The Stanford track and field team's charter bus caught fire on their way to UW Friday afternoon. It shut down all northbound I-5 lanes for a spell. There were no injuries. The bus has seen better days, however.


Annual King County point-in-time count draws almost 1,000 volunteers: Every year, in the early hours of the morning that really should still be considered night, volunteers in King County take to the streets to take stock of how many homeless people are in the county on a given night. It's called Count Us In. It's also used to see how many are sleeping on the street, exposed to the elements. The number of homeless people in King County has been rising each year.

State of emergency because some dumb fucks didn't vaccinate their kids: Governor Jay Inslee has declared a state of emergency in Washington over a measles outbreak in Clark County. There are 30 confirmed cases and nine suspected cases as of Friday. There's one confirmed case in King County. Out of those cases, 26 people had not been vaccinated.

Family of Native American man shot by Lakewood police reach settlement: Daniel Covarrubias was shot and killed in 2015. He was allegedly trespassing at the Pinnacle Lumber Yard in Lakewood. He pointed a cellphone at officers and was fatally shot. His family alleges that race placed a role in his killing. They reached a settlement for $500,000. The original claim was for $15 million.

Body found near Mount St. Helens: A body was found on a remote road near Mount St. Helens. Police are investigating.

He's running: Bernie Sanders is reportedly about to announce a 2020 presidential run. Are you feeling the Bern? Burn? I honestly don't remember the spelling of that catchphrase. Anyway, Bernie's joining the race.

The government is going to re-open! Hopefully! Donald Trump finally kowtowed to the masses and said he'd end the shutdown and instructed Mitch McConnell to pass a clean spending bill. That was the same clean spending bill Democrats passed in December and Trump refused to sign. So, this was all for nothing. Trump says he'll shut the government down again in three weeks if he doesn't get his wall. Sigh. A big factor in ending the shutdown was air traffic controllers threatening to strike.

Dam burst in Brazil: Seven bodies have been found. There are 200 people missing. There were about 300 miners in the area at the time, many having lunch. Only 100 have been accounted for.
