Slog PM is brought to you tonight by the winner of our High-Brr-Nation Issue's contest: We got 59 correct submissions! The winner of those 59 is Adam Hatfield! Congrats, Adam! Here's a behind-the-scenes shot of our announcement video. It was a hands-on lesson:

Hey! Did you get a ballot? All you King County-ers (ignore how bad that was) sure did. The special election is on Feb. 12. One thing you've gotta do is not fucking listen to the Seattle Times Editorial Board. Instead, vote to renew Seattle's education levies. If we don’t pass Proposition 1, the district will have to cut 1,100 staff positions at Seattle’s 102 schools. Prop. 2 will fund $1.4 billion in building improvements at eight schools, as well as major maintenance upgrades at 72 schools. We need this. There's more information here.

City Council unloved—actively disliked—by Seattle: A new poll states the obvious, which is that Seattle doesn't like the City Council. But, the poll says that that dislike isn't necessarily born from political ideology, according to Crosscut. In fact, many of the respondents are dissatisfied because they don't think the council is accomplishing much.

The man charged with the fatal hit-and-run of an Oregon teen has fled the country: In August 2016, a teenage girl was struck and killed during a hit-and-run in Portland. The man charged for her death is a native of Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia posted his bail and allegedly helped him escape the country.

Some rain: I'm loving how much it's raining right now. It's been too long! Nearly three weeks? In winter! La Niña, you're killing me. Climate change, you too. Anyway, I'm enjoying the rain while it lasts. And hoping for some snow. Variety, you know?

Some bad snow news: Goddammit.

Vancouver kid got the right vaccine, now has measles: Great, you anti-vaxxing assholes. Measles is spreading via kids who don't have a measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine. Now, it's gotten its claws in a kid who had done the smart, common sense, not-endanger-other-kids thing and gotten the vaccine. Measles continues to spread. There are 42 confirmed cases. There are seven suspected cases being investigated now.

Have you said your goodbyes?: It's the end of days for the Alaskan Way Viaduct. It had a good run. There's a weekend celebration happening. It sounds kind of cold. But it's like a whole city affair type of deal. I feel like if I don't go I'll feel left out for the rest of my days in Seattle. Maybe I'm being dramatic.

Bob Ferguson finishes closing arguments against Comcast: The Washington Attorney General, Bob Ferguson, is in the midst of a $171 million in a lawsuit against the company. Ferguson sued on behalf of tens of thousands of customers who Comcast signed up for a program without their consent. Rude, for one thing. For another, the program came with monthly fees. So, stealing.

Howard Schultz is bridging the divide: He's the reach across the aisle we needed, the solution to the age old (read: 2016 and on) question: What happened to civility?

Belltown is feeling the development heat yet again: The iconic strip of retail that's threatened includes staples like Neon Boots and Shorty's, as well as one of the oldest buildings in Belltown. There may be a way out, according to Rise Up Belltown, a neighborhood group. Some other sites, like Tula's Jazz Club have to be evaluated for landmark status. Still, some of Seattle's favorite haunts are on the chopping block.

It's America's biggest holiday this weekend: Hopefully someone will finally beat the Patriots. Right? Fuck that Tom Brady guy. Daniel Radcliffe thinks so, too.

Ruh roh, another racist: Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) admitted to "appearing in a clearly racist and offensive" picture in his medical school year book. The picture shows someone in black face and someone in KKK robes. It's unclear which man Northam is. It was taken in 1984, alarmingly. Here's the picture:

The Reign is moving: Is it a good thing?
