Darron Morris seemed like an unusually kind, decent man who supported real restorative justice with more than empty speeches. In many ways an odd fit for a district attorney, but I always sensed he was driven by a greater vision than the expansion of his own power.
His belief that extending mass incarceration to children was a bad idea was opposed by existing government and media institutions and the Seattle Times who remain addicted to mass incarceration as the first response to every event.
I have no doubt that future generations will view Darron Morris the way we now view slavery abolitionist on the 1800's. I fear now history will judge the rest of us.
Best hopes to their children. Tragic.
Rest in peace.
What a tragic loss.
