It would be nice if we could get one council member who has had to make payroll for their employees. Just one.

Nope, another fucking activist. Oh, with the "lesbian" box checked.

2

Good luck to you Sasha! The more people like you (people neither connected nor indebted to the power structure) running for elected office the better.

"It would be nice if we could get one council member who has had to make payroll for their employees."

Herbert Hoover was a disaster, you know. Everyone else knows that. What's your defect? Private business has the luxury to pull out of markets that aren't profitable. They have the luxury to ignore customers that are more trouble than they're worth. They have the luxury to pull the plug on product lines that aren't helping the bottom line. They have the luxury to kill ventures that are in fact profitable, but not profitable enough. Not quite as lucrative as Wall Street was hoping for. Failing companies can hope to be bought out by competitors or any number of vulture capitalists who will salvage whatever parts of a company they can. Golden parachutes are considered good business. Why not?

The essence of private business is complete freedom to take your ball and go home whenever it tickles your fancy. Private business has no duty to anybody.

Imagine shutting down the fire department because it wasn't the killer app you'd hope it would be. Or a general deciding to quit fighting and surrender because projections weren't quite being met. Or Congress deciding that Kansas is more of a liability than an asset. Selling off Florida, or pieces of it, to the highest bidder. Interesting thought, sure, but this is our country we're talking about.

It's nonsensical. Business experience, a little bit, might bolster a politician's resume. But only a little. Look at what a failure Trump is. Look at what a clown Howard Schultz is making of himself. Or fucking Hoover. Big shot, right? Private business is tiddlywinks compared to the magnitude of duty and responsibility that elected officials face. Hotshot entrepreneurs don't have what it takes for the job. They're quitters. Opportunists who look for low hanging fruit. They cut and run when the going gets tough.

Calling somewhere a “Little Nowhere Town”, is very LA. You’ll want to work on that in the PNW.

I'll never not think of her as 'that selfie-stick lady'.

@1: While I don’t believe business experience is any panacea in government, it would be nice to have diversity on our Council sufficient to allow them to recognize when our current approach is not working. Our Council watched as our ten-year plan to end homelessness collapsed into a homelessness crisis, and their response was to re-instate the EHT — which had been one component of said failed plan! Unsurprisingly, a citizen revolt is now costing our Council Members their jobs.

@3: “Or a general deciding to quit fighting and surrender because projections weren't quite being met.”

Imagine shutting down or changing a government program which is clearly having the opposite wffect to the one intended? Mike O’Brien failed to imagine this, and soon he’ll be out of a job. We retire officers who lose battles, and we fire Council Members who won’t learn. Government can — and should! — be very businesslike in such matters.

1 Seriously, another "businessman" who will "treat gubmint like a bidness"?
You think that is still a thing?

@7, @8:

@1 was actually asking for diversity on our City Council, but since he didn’t use that exact word, you couldn’t recognize it and then reflexively agree with him.

Because reading comprehension is hard.

Another United Nations Agenda 2030 (sustainability for the environment because "humans are evil") follower, though she probably has no clue what that is. Aligning with UN planning means you are aligning with the 3,000 NGOs that provide the UN its guidance and vision. UN NGOs are primarily financed by corporations, including the richest SOBs on the planet, central banking corporations that are pro-communist. They aren't communist to save the planet or the environment or to help people. They are communist because they are Gnostic/Luciferian and communism fully aligns with the spiritual goals of Luciferianism, which include the abolition of the family unit (hello lesbians!), the abolition of private property (hello renters-for-life!), the abolition of organized religion (hello God-haters!), and a one-world govt (we already have that in the form of the Bank for International Settlements, which no one in the US seems to know about thanks to our propaganda media). Heaven or Hell, make your political choices carefully and turn off the "alt media" as well as the "media" and read a book or two on these topics, people -- please!!!!

@2 "...people neither connected nor indebted to the power structure..." Are you completely and totally clueless about United Nations Agenda 2030? You can down the detailed planning documents directly from the United Nations web site. There are hundreds of books written on this topic available for purchase. Her platform is 100% UN Agenda 2030 aligned. That's 100% grade A mega-corporation material friend. The extreme hard-core variety.
