Luke Perry died this morning, reports TMZ and Entertainment Weekly. The actor suffered a massive stroke on Wednesday, February 27, and never recovered. He was 52.

Perry is best known for his role as the sideburn-sporting Dylan McKay in the '90s teen soap Beverly Hills, 90210. It was reported last week that a 90210 revival is in the works, although Perry was not part of the announcement, which included six of the show's primary cast members. Perry also declined to participate in the CW's revival, simply titled 90210, which aired from 2008 to 2013 and featured occasional guest appearances from original cast members.

Since 2017, Perry has been a series regular on Riverdale, playing Archie Andrews' dad, Fred Andrews. EW reports that he was in Los Angeles filming scenes for the show when he suffered his stroke.

Perry also had filmed scenes for Quentin Tarantino's upcoming Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which recounts the Manson Family murders in 1969. Perry plays TV actor Wayne Maunder, who appeared on the western show Lancer. The movie is scheduled for release later this year.

For some Oregonians, Perry might best be remembered as the star of 8 Seconds, a 1994 rodeo movie that was partly shot in Pendleton, Oregon. And for many of us, his appearance on The Simpsons as Sideshow Luke Perry will never be forgotten.
