I was horrified to think he wore that yellow shirt to court, but the KOMO article shows more appropriate attire. How sneaky of you Katie.

2

"I am," I said, to no one there. And no one heard at all, not even the chair.

3

Did the court make sure to do a count of the number of chairs present in the court before AND AFTER his appearance?

4

You'd think an experienced grifter and someone who has appeared before judges as often as Tim would know a short sleeve t-shirt really isn't the most appropriate court attire.

5

@4: It appears he wore a dark green long sleeve sweater, that he rolled up the sleeves, to court in the KOMO pictures.

6

Tim's behavior demonstrates anathema for contrition--a willingness to hide, obfuscate or lie rather than admit an embarrassing personal blunder. It suggests formative trauma that's not been recognized and sensibly sorted. Immaturity, and its effects, persist.

7

Hey with the divorce, the bankruptcy, the man probably doesn't have a pot to piss in let alone a chair to sit in. Have some sympathy people!

8

I nominate this one for the laughably bad alibis hall of frame. Well done, Tim. Thank you!

9

Wel, theives gotta steal, it’s what they do, so he’ll keep doing it.

Still, it’s sad to see our local big-time thief reduced to swiping an unsecured item from a big-box store. It’s kind of like seeing a once-feared Mafia hitman beat up schoolchildren to steal their lunch money.

10

Worst business plan ever: get out of the fake watch profession and move into the office chair theft business.

11

Not guilty by reason of being a giant entitled dbag. Works surprisingly well in some jurisdictions.

12

I told you so. This is just the tippy tip of a much larger iceberg. That dirtbag Eyman will be convicted of a crime sometime in the next five years. Mark my words.

13

He's nabbed. However, it's just a misdemeanor and if he stalls it a bunch the court will plea it down or dismiss on technicality. That's the plan.
His incompetence/insanity defense nobody will buy.

15

But hey folks, $30 car tabs will win at the polls.

16

@14- huh? I mean, you typically spout utter nonsense, but this takes the cake. A person who literally uses every inch of the political process, has done so to great personal gain, and somehow they are being 'silenced' because they occasionally don't get their way, or are reminded that rules and laws kinda-sorta apply to them.

17

Timmy had an excellent chance to behave like an adult and stand accountable for his actions. "Yeah, I stole the chair. It was the wrong thing to do. Tell me what to do to make it right." Unfortunately in this day and age we see more and more adults - especially in public view - shirking responsibility and accountability for their actions. It is not what you do when you fuck up that defines you, it is what you do after you fuck up that defines your character. If i were the judge i would give him the maximum penalty.

"His incompetence/insanity defense nobody will buy."
Oh, I'm buyin' it.

I might suggest, future-wise, whilst out scalping Warshington, to ask whatever business you're in front of (providing you haven't already been banned, be sure to check with the Mgr.), if you can have a chair (don't forget to say Please)! to sit on, on account of how backbreaking breaking the back of WA is (don't forget to have a 'friend' video it). If they bring one out, it's Yours! Heck, you even tell the next judge, you flat out asked them for it. To be on the 'safe' side, have THEM put it in your Yugo.

While I'm no attorney, and you should never Ever take my advice,
I am slightly-less-than-99%-certain that'll work.

22

@20 Seriously, your post @14 is not intelligible. That is to say, your point is not intelligible. The sentences don't relate to each other and add up to a meaningful whole. I think I might be able to take a stab at guessing your general ideological point of view, but if you have a point to make about this Eyman arrest and indictment, I think you will have to try again if it is important to you for anyone to understand it.

23

An empty chair was the undoing of another great Republican icon.
Some great existential trap for conservatives in a common piece of furniture.
Have Charles ponder this.

25

No one gets jail time for their first Theft 3. Timmy will get off with probation and a small fine.

26

Cowardly yellow--how pathetically appropriate for ex-watch selling grifter, Tim Eyesore. Lock the bastard up and throw away the key, already!
@14 & @20: Methinks your MAGA cap is on waaay too tight, and some of your remaining brain cells, if any, are starting to ooze out. Seek medical help.
@17 brown dog: Agreed and seconded.
@19 kristofarian: Keep on rocking the house!
@23 kallipugos: I know, right? This whole episode reminded me of Clint Eastwood's bizarre conversation with a delusional "Presi-chair" at the 2012 RNC convention.

27

Republicans are horrible people.

28

office depot has horrible chairs. The WORST.

29

How do we know (and Know we must) the chair taken by Tim to Lacey PD was in fact the same chair as was (allegedly -- someone MAY HAVE doctored the Vid) removed by the Perp? How do WE know an inferior chair from Tim's likely vast warehouse of chairs wasn't swapped for the lovely conveyance/sit-upon previously occupying / now long gone from Office Depot's vestibule?

Even More to the point: Tim WHY would you, of all people, allow an Office Depot to videotape YOU? Especially when THEY would NOT allow YOU to video-record THEM, when you needed to most?

30

The casualness with which he first swipes the chair and then swaggers back into the store to smirkingly conduct business with the people he just swindled reveals somebody well versed with the five finger discount.

I hope the court at least gives him the slap on the wrist he's earned. I suppose it depends on how excited the judge is about what license tabs cost.

31

A most suitable punishment for Eyesore: Send Tim to the chair and watch him really light up.

32

30

Ah, a little Frontier justice.
I Like it.
