Their what is trying to be all inclusive?

Why do you hate the English language?

3

2

it ain't English.
It's American.

4

Sometimes I love your LA roots. Butterflies are always a welcome sight. Happy Spring!

5

Brexit. I have to laff.
Bannon sold them a fantasy, just like he sold our Rubes Trumpfy.
Good Luck, lads.

"Butterfly migration over Los Angeles."
Whenever I picture LA, I picture lots of buildings.
I did see the butterflies.
They didn't look very Round-Up Ready™ to me.

Oh, and everyone knows in this Meritocracy,
schoolwise, you get what you Pay for.
Until you get Busted.
So, just put a new Wing on your school of choice.

I don't expect to see a lot of jail time.
These peeps are Wealthy, for chrissakes.

Q. Why must we have for-profit Education?
With for-Profit, NO-bankruptcies-Allowed, financing?
They say, for every dollar you Invest in Education of the Citizenry,
you get seven back. We, on the other hand, are making it Impossible for
students to pay off their loans and buy a home. They get to choose one.

Who Decides this shit for us?

@1

Good grief, there were twice as many investment bankers arrested as there were Hollywood actors. Hell, if you add up all the tennis, sailing, and water polo coaches arrested, you again get twice the number of actors.

Get a grip.

8

These kids had every advantage and still didn't meet the school's admission requirements. How can these parents not realize they're setting their children up for failure?

10

The list of arrestees reads like a who's who of the Hollywood liberal establishment

William H.
Macy under questioning.

12

Bok - Bok -- Yeah. Fuckin' Holly Wood Lib. He Fled the fucking Interview. I hope they catch him. Out on some frozen lake or something. That'll teach HIM to try and get the bestest Education for his kid(s?) his wealth and status (and conscience)(allegedly!!) might afford.

13

@9 & 10: Oh you two. There are PLENTY of Republicans on that list as well, so settle down. What these parents all have in common is that they are rich, but I don't see either of you clutching your pearls about that.

15

William H. Macy is in the phone transcripts and was clearly involved. Wonder why he wasn’t charged — maybe because he didn’t deal w the money changing hands?

16

Trumps father bought Donald’s way into Wharton. Ivanka, like her father magically transferred to Penn in junior year after her father made a hefty endowment and Alum contribution. Jared Kushner’s father Charles Kushner gave $2.5 million to Harvard to buy Jared’s way into Harvard.

99% of the dirtbags involved in this latest admissions scam were bankers, CEO’s and Wallstreeters.

But those damn Hollywood liberals!

17

Left wing whataboutism here we come!!!

19

@17: Huh? Again, plenty of Republicans involved in this scandal, and again what all of them, (and the people @16 brought up) have in common is that:
They
Are
Rich
and think that, because they are rich, they can jump the line.
I'm not sure why you're so invested in ignoring this salient point.....

20

Oh, Troll. That’s not how a “whatabouism” works. A whataboutism is a subject change. We’re still talking about corrupt admissions and the fact that the overwhelming majority of persons involved in this latest scandal were not “Hollywood Libruz!” but just rich people - like usual.

But it’s nice to see you recognize the existence of a fallacy you incessantly employ. So now we know you know you’re full of shit.

21

@19 he ignores any and all salient points because he’s an idjit and a troll.

22

Are those farmers still crying over killed milk?

23

@8: "These kids had every advantage and still didn't meet the school's admission requirements. How can these parents not realize they're setting their children up for failure?"

Because "admission requirements" and "graduation requirements" tend to be two different things, and also because much of the reason for going to an elite school isn't even the degree-- it's to rub elbows with the future leaders of said elite. These parents were just trying to get another ticket punched for their Precious Little Darlings.

(Also, Falsified List of Regattas absolutely rocked the Showbox, back in the day...)

24

@23 Those are fair points.

Also, anyone empathizing (not you @23) ala "these parents only wanted the best for their kids"—I don't buy it. They wanted the best for themselves. In this case, the bragging rights of having a kid at an elite school.

25

@24: Not doubting vanity on the part of parents, but in the worlds these parents inhabit, It’s All Who You Know, and they wanted tickets for their own children on that gravy train. (Can’t say I blame them for wanting it... GW Bush proved how utter mediocrity can be overcome with the right elite school and connections, after all.)

26

@16 -- For those without means, they call it Affirmitve Action.

For those with Means, it's called greasing the skids.

How 'bout those kids unable to afford Turtors, etc?
How 'bout some Bootstraps for them, too?

Is The Club too Exclusive for those types?
Shouldda been born to Filthy Rich?

And WHY THE FUCK is Education EXPENSIVE?
Is it because we have All The Money in the World, when it comes to
War? And, oops! nothing left for the Citizens. Our bad!

Fucking Trumpfy; cutting the Social Safety Net as if it were dragging America under and making more and More fucking (lil' poppers!) Nukes* and throwing money at Big fucking Coal and Big Oil

*'cuz, what's better for an Economy than making and selling Weapons of Mass Destruction that should NEVER BE USED. Cuz it'd be Insanity with peeps like Trumpfy and that Nut and Yahoo that I did not see from Israel and Gawd only knows who else, all with Red Buttons at their Disposal.

Very fucking Pragmatic, Mr. Idiot President.
Thanks, Republicans.

27

'Turtors'? Wtf's my editor?

28

@25 Well despite agreeing with you, looks like there's data that aligns with my initial intuition instead. In short, "...going to an Ivy League school doesn't help people make more money. They found it's more likely that Ivy League schools select for the kinds of students likely to make more money as adults."

If anything good comes from all this—I understand the rich will ALWAYS find a back door—maybe we'll see colleges hesitant to accept pay-to-play donations from wealthy parents, and maybe IRS won't treat those million dollar admissions payments as "donations." Might free up a couple of spots for kids that truly worked for it.
