When my uncle was in the VA hospital for a leg amputation the nurses would call the cops on him if they found a roach or a gummy bear on him. Fortunately, all the cops did was give him a stern reprimand. It's just insane that when people suffer so much some will go through such lengths to find ways to add additional further suffer. What's more insane is that our system is designed to encourage that behavior. Hospitals that receive funding through the NIH are subject to laws of the federal government and can be penalized by having that funding revoked. Thus, management directs staff to snitch on their customers or lose their jobs. It's basically coercion from the FDA.
