And ask Steve Luke how he feels about Space Dust, Dayglow and Superfuzz...

2

Good article. I’d be sad to see the local place go, but it’s Budweiser now so hopefully this will mean more business for legit local brewpubs.

3

I'm a bit confused by the language in your piece. Tangletown is closing. But reopening? Is the new version connected with Elysian in any way? If not, isn't this good news that another of the Elysian originals will be opening a new place there?

4

Yea, another shit-tier article. This should be a celebration of the creation of a new brewery by one of the best in the country.

5

Sounds like an improvement. Maybe they'll have something cheaper to eat than $9 "truffle" fries.

6

Yeah, Tangletown is closing, and Dave Buehler is reopening it (presumably with no small amount of cash from his share of the Elysian sale) as a place where he can go play his guitar when he wants to. Cool.

7

Buhlerweiser whatever indy beer cred you had evaporated when you signed that check. Kindly step forward from the integrity ledge please.

8

You know, Bud isn't even US owned anymore. InBev, of Belgium owns them as well as Beck's and Heineken. Coor's is now Canadian and Jim Beam is Japanese owned.
But the local beer scene is better than it's ever been.

Happy to see this place go. The menu was overpriced and the food was underwhelming. The service was pretty much the worst I’ve experienced in Seattle. I’m hoping that it becomes something better. I live two blocks away and I refused to go there after the first few disappointing visits.

What @8 said,

"Budweiser, the largest beer producer in the world and the current owner of Elysian Brewing"

That would be InBev for both. In fact, do a little searching on whatever your favorite craft beer is... InBev owns quite a few of them

11

Fuck yea! Except, I wish he hadn't sold out. But still

What @3 said: it’s good to see a corporate brewpub replaced with a neighborhood brewpub, owned and operated by a legend of Seattle craft brewing. Why that wasn’t the main story (and called out in the headline) is beyond me.

Any news on when Tangletown (re)opens?

This one time on bicycle tour I got black out drunk on Space Dust in a bar in Pensacola. Much earlier in that tour I stopped at a small brewery in Imperial, CA. They’d just signed a distribution deal with InBev. I met the InBev reps, and everyone seemed jazzed. Hope that worked out well for the brewers.

Please wait...
