The federal database, HMIS, is a terrible way to track data for Seattle. It isn't real time and has weird ways of tracking data (example: it only counts households, not individuals). So Seattle is paying a data analyst to try and parse the data from HMIS back down to the local level when every city successfully reducing homelessness uses a local, real time data system like Tableau.

1. Tableau is an analysis tool, not a database. If they don't understand the difference, then.... they shouldn't offer suggestions on data of any kind.
2. The city does use Tableau, in tons of departments. Specific to homelessness, it is used by All Home, a collaboration between the city and county (+other orgs), to assess and report on their progress: http://allhomekc.org/system-performance/ Note: they use HMIS to gather the data and Tableau to report on it. Like any reasonable person would do.

Good for this guy for getting into the race, for making a real effort to campaign, win, and serve the city. He undoubtedly has much to learn and will need to refine some specifics of his policy positions--but trying is how you learn, and he deserves praise for risking instead of just carping and criticizing.

PrideFest doesn't put on "parades". They put on festivals, specifically the Cal Anderson events and now Broadway events on Pride Saturday and the big Pride festival at Seattle Center on Pride Sunday.

A completely different group produces the actual Pride Sunday Parade. And, of course, the Dyke March is...a march.

Egan does not work well with other organizations and Pridefest was started downtown - not Capitol Hill. Also Egan did not "save" the Capitol Hill Pride Festival. He hijacked it with the Chamber.
