"because raids to seize guns would put their officers at risk"

In other words, these people are so dangerous we should definitely let them keep their guns.

Actor Isaiah Washington tweeted his thanks for President Trump's support of the First Step Act while also criticizing former President Obama for a lack of action regarding “the Black Agenda.”

Washington tweeted on Monday his praise for Trump and the passing of the First Step Act, which is dedicated to criminal justice reform and prisoner rehabilitation. The actor was invited to D.C. to celebrate the legislation and hear calls for more reform, which he says Trump's predecessor never did.

“I voted for 44 twice. I even checked my emails in his Senate Office while lobbying for Salone to be given another chance to rebrand,” the former “Grey’s Anatomy” star wrote. “Not once in 8 years was I given any support regarding Africa or the Black Agenda, but 45 invites me to the WH to celebrate the #FirstStepAct.”

The suspect in the Nipsey Hussle murder investigation is named Eric Holder? That's the name of the former Attorney General under Obama. Wow!. How unfortunate. Also, 19 people were injured in a riot at the vigil for Hussle last night. 2 critically. Most unfortunate.

WTF?!!

6

Trump's second term would end in Jan 2025, not in 2023.

Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Here's a crazy idea, don't build a community around a dump.

@1: Tiffany Blue is a pretty color.

9

@4: I thought the same thing about "Eric Holder", and wondered if the "April 1, 2019" date meant it was a gag. Seems to be legit though.

10

@3,
Lucky guy. He probably even got to have hamberders and covfefe with Donnie.

11

@5: It's pretty consistent considering the black community's general views on homosexuality.

Vonda is dead.

The world may be filled with cherry blossoms, but they're all dead to me.

Analysis of California Propsition 8 Exit Poll Data

Race

Looking at the vote by race reveals a curious detail:
Race % of respondents Yes on prop 8 No on prop 8
White (63%) 49% 51%
Black. (10%) 70% 30%
Latino (18%) 53% 47%
Asian (6%) 49% 51%
Other (3%) 51% 49%

That data can be reduced to:
Race % of respondents Yes on prop 8 No on prop 8
Black. (10%) 70% 30%
Other (90%) 50% 50%
African-Americans were 40% more likely to have cast a vote in favor of Prop 8.

2008 Black Homophobia

posted by Dan Savage on November 5 at 9:55 AM

African American voters in California voted overwhelmingly for Prop 8, writing anti-gay discrimination into California’s constitution and banning same-sex marriage in that state. Seventy percent of African American voters approved Prop 8, according to exit polls, compared to 53% of Latino voters, 49% of white voters, 49% of Asian voters.

I’m not sure what to do with this. I’m thrilled that we’ve just elected our first African-American president. I wept last night. I wept reading the papers this morning. But I can’t help but feeling hurt that the love and support aren’t mutual.

I do know this, though: I’m done pretending that the handful of racist gay white men out there—and they’re out there, and I think they’re scum—are a bigger problem for African Americans, gay and straight, than the huge numbers of homophobic African Americans are for gay Americans, whatever their color.

Finally, I’m searching for some exit poll data from California. I’ll eat my shorts if gay and lesbian voters went for McCain at anything approaching the rate that black voters went for Prop 8.

Black Democrats Almost as Bad as White Republicans on Gay Issues

by Dan Savage • Wednesday at 11:17 am

Only 31% of black Democrats in America say homosexual relations are morally acceptable, roughly the same as the 30% of Republicans who agree, while very much different from the 61% of nonblack Democrats who say homosexual relations are morally acceptable....
Just 30% of black Democrats say they would agree that marriages between same-sex couples should be recognized by law as valid, compared to 57% of nonblack Democrats. Black Democrats are not quite as conservative on this policy issue as Republicans (among whom just 22% favor legalization of same-sex marriage), but are closer to Republican attitudes than to nonblack Democratic attitudes. And, as noted at the beginning of this story, black Democrats' views on the moral acceptability of homosexual relations are almost identical to those of Republicans, and the attitudes of both blacks and Republicans are significantly different from the attitudes of nonblack Democrats on this issue.

GermanSausage - Maybe there wouldn't be as much homophobia, anti-Semitism, hatred for Asians, Latinos and whites in your community if people like you got off your ass and did something other than hang around the Stranger comment section all day blaming others for what an asshole you are.

@Lark2 The suspect's name is Eric Holder, but apparently he goes by the street name "Shitty" (seriously), so he can be officially distinguished as Shitty Eric Holder.

Bolstering Medicare for All Case, Survey Shows Americans Accrued $88 Billion in Healthcare Debt in 2018

@20,
Huh!?
Surreal. Sigh.

Looks like Slog has attracted its own 'shitposter', with much in common with his Australian ideological and intellectual soulmate.
Birds of a feather.

24

@18 Oh Trolly troll.

So let me get this straight (no pun):
The Republican party — 89% non-latino caucasian — literally codifies homophobia by opposing every single piece of gay rights legislation proposed over the last forty years. The nearly all-white GOP even has anti-gay policy codified into it's official party platform and right now is busy at work undoing every gay rights advancement.

But it's black people that are the anti-gay bigots?

Cracker-jack logic!

Fun fact: 52 percent of voters who supported Donald Trump in the 2016 presidential election believed blacks are “less evolved” than whites, according to researchers at the Kellog School of Management.

25

24: So it's acceptable to be an "anti-gay bigot" as long as you're not a Republican anti-gay bigot? Truly stellar logic, my friend.
