Theology is nothing more than marketing. When a religion's opinions get too unpopular, someone has a revelation or something, and the theology changes.

2

Which of the two Bezose$ is it better to try to date?

3

@2
Neither!
Sometimes, the drama is not worth it!

re "Boeing says sorry for killing all those people."

"Connecticut-based consumer rights advocate Ralph Nader lost his grand-niece in the recent crash of a Boeing 737 Max jet in Ethiopia. Now he’s gunning for the planemaker and federal safety regulators who allowed the aircraft to be certified.

Nader said his niece, Samya Stumo, was working for a nonprofit in Africa on health issues at the time of her death.

'She was an extraordinary person,' he told Connecticut Public Radio’s Morning Edition. 'Just 24 years old with a master’s out of the University of Copenhagen in global health. She was a leader, she had compassion, intellectual rigor. And we’ll never know how many lives she could have saved.'

Nader believes plane maker Boeing has potentially opened itself to criminal prosecution over its handling of safety on the 737 Max, which has now seen two fatal crashes within six months -- the first in Indonesia last October.

He accuses Boeing of rushing the design of the 737 Max in an effort to compete with European maker Airbus. And he said, when Boeing realized it had a stability issue with the plane, it installed insufficient safety sensors to compensate for flaws.

He wants the FAA to decertify the plane and Boeing to halt manufacture of the aircraft."

@2 -- she's been all over me (duh), but I'm playing Hard To Get.

So far, it seems to be Working.

I don't wanna let on too much, but
I think we're gonna get us a TeeVee Network, or two.

Just a little something to counter the Fools @ FOX + Fiends.
We're shooting for a Democracy NOW!-type situation
but Amy Goodman's doing a pretty Terrific Job* over there
so, we'll just hafta see!

It should prove Interesting....

Okay, last one -- "House tells NRA to fuck off, passes domestic violence gun control laws: Despite some no holds barred lobbying, the House voted against the National Rifle Association to pass a new and improved Violence Against Women Act. The law strengthens restrictions on convicted domestic abusers' ability to purchase guns.

"The bill passed no problem and 33 Republicans turned their backs on the NRA to vote with the Democrats."

"... and 33 Republicans TURNED THEIR BACKS
ON THE nra TO VOTE WITH THE DEMOCRATS."

Not to get too hysterical, but this is Fucking HISTORICAL.

Who knows -- is this the open Door to a Paradigm Shift?
Perhaps even Republicans can see the Light of Day.
Excellent!

Thanks, Nathalie!

Listening to NPR this afternoon, I heard an interview with Ralph Nader (yes that guy - the consumer safety advocate is still alive and kicking). In the irony of all ironies, his grand niece was killed in the Ethiopian crash (her parents are suing Boeing and the FAA).

He had plenty to say about the flawed design of the 737 Max 8, concluding that the engines Boeing put on this model 737 are too big for the plane and shift the its center of gravity making it prone to instability (hence the need for the flawed anti-stall system).

Nader called for not just the grounding of these planes, which he seemed to feel are inherently unsafe even with a software fix, but a recall of all those sold because the plane needs a complete redesign.

Nader also stated that the problems experienced by the Max 8 don't extend to any of the other 737 models, which he deemed safe.

After the Nader interview concluded, I was left with the impression that Boeing might have much, much bigger problems (and far more damaging fallout) from the Max 8 than it had with the Dreamliner lithium batteries.

This might turn out to be one of the biggest local, national, and international new stories of the year, especially if Nader's allegations are proven to be true.

@5 @7
Kristofarian makes my day !

11

Kristofarian is pretty day making.

12

If I'm not mistaken I boarded a Boeing Max 8 a few months ago. I didn't know what it was then, just that it was a new plane and the seats were not comfortable. Something wasn't quite right and they removed all of the passengers and had us board a different aircraft that was not a Max 8.

14

thanks, pat L!

@8 -- Purris. Great comment.
Boeing's gotta make a Major Move if they wanna keep people up in the Air.

How can the flying Public trust these MAXes, which Nader excoriates like an old Fire-Engine Red (flaming) Ford Pinto, or Chevy's rollover-prone Corvair -- which he also excoriated ('Unsafe at Any Speed'), when Boeing seems to have been less than forthcoming, with the not-grounding of its planes? Why did they wait so long?

Boeing needs to look at the bigger picture (damn fine thing they have Me here, to Lecture them, no?) and shy away from its apparent rush to greed or whatever it is/was that led them down this path.

Boeing needs their Union Workers included on their Board of Directors.

So the Employees are able to call BullShit on BullShit practices, pratices which may only benefit the very short term -- oh, and benefit Shareholders and Executives....

Employees have a pretty big Stake in Boeing too.
They need to have some Say.

16

13

"Nader knows poop about airplanes, and despite a relative death, he is a lawyer and always will be." You obviously don't know Poop about Uncle Ralph, Jacky. Hell, Nader's Forgotten more about airplanes than you'll ever know.

"... and [Nader] wants to ground all the fleet is ambulance chasing."
You wanna see some SERIOUS Ambulance Chasing?

Go ahead, unground those MAXes, and then, when the next one falls out of the Sky, or Nose dives into the Earth -- then you can kick back, and watch the boatloads of Lawyers eat Boeing up Alive.

Good Advice.
IF you work for Airbus.

THNX, seatackled!

17

Unsafe At Any Altitude.

And a big lol@13

20

"Fuck the Makah Tribe" --ancientwhitefossil

Egg-Zactly.

They need to go the Fuck BACK to where they fucking
CAME FROM.

oh wait

21

@8 -- News flash, Dominic Gates at the Seattle Times has been writing about all of these things since the Boeing Max crashes. But I guess now people will pay attention since Ralph-fucking-Nader (!) is on the case.

23

@19 -- "I don't know all the answers yet because they aren't all in yet."

And no one's accusing you of that.

"Yet you [yours, truly] and Nader have completely wrapped things up and are withholding information from the FAA and the equivalent of other Countries to solve this tragedy?"

WHEN was it, Jacky, we SAID we did?
But now there's shit-Tonnes they DO know....

Btw, didja know, Jackay, speaking of the FAA, those two other countries where Boeing's Planes crashed would NOT ALLOW our FAA the 'black boxes' from those two nose-diving airplanes -- because they did Not Trust OUR FuckingFederalAvaitionAuthority?! Pretty fucking Remarkable, eh?

Howtf COULD they, or anyone, trust them, with Hair Furor cutting the FAA's Budget, starving the Beast, as you NeoLibs and Cons like to call it, right?, consequently having fucking BOEING decide (mostly, apparently) for Itself whether the Plane was Airworthy?

They lost TWO Planes less than a year after launch.

There's not all that much left to Figure.
And it's looking real Bad for Boeing.
So far.

So, you think Nader's just ambulance chasing, and all the MAXes need to get re-Airborne, ASAP? And how bout them Seats, eh?

24

@22 -- Were I a Native on Washington's Wild North West Coast,
I just might....

I'd rather not see any sentient beings, especially like Whales,
killed, if I had my druthers, but that's not how it Works.

THEY seem to think it's pretty Important.

And they've been here WAAAAAY longer than the rest of us.
Plus, there's lots of Whales.
Again.

Thanks for Asking.

28

@26 is so indifferent that they wrote two paragraphs and then wrote another follow-up post two minutes later.

29

Anyway, shouldn't jackkay be off somewhere making fun of dead Barbara Bush like their master is doing?

30

"From now on I will ignore your posts, directed at me or not."

Precisely why I have that pathetic Trumpfy Troll --
so you can see it and skip merrily right on by.

Caveat Lector, I always say.

"I don't love you nor do I hate you.
I'm indifferent and some would say it's worse."

I'll be terribly Sad, but
I'll likely live.

Adios!
And Via con Dia!

31

"Kristofarian. Your continuous posts ... are filled
more with reactionary rhetoric than thought."

Yes. While you're obviously Projecting,
thank you for Noticing!

"Krisofarian, cut back on the Meth."
If it worked for you, I guess I could give it a Try.

First, I'll hafta Get some, so's I can cut back.
But thanks again!

33

32 dear, Fetuses aren't sentient. Babies barely are. Abort early and abort often. When in doubt, cut it out!

37

Upwards of 1,000 human lives violently vaporized in a few days by his defective planes, but this Boeing CEO still finds it to be a great product. All you need to know about the Boeing corporate structure right there. Boeing corporate also has the same misanthropic contempt for their union workers.

38

@37

1000 lives? Must be damn big 737s!

39

Many more grey whales will die due to over-fishing and vast piles of human garbage so let's keep the Makah hunt in perspective. I hope anti hunt absolutists will be consistent and expand as much energy toward stopping the destruction of the earth oceans by man.

42

@33: Well, you should be glad that your mother had no doubts.

43

Blood for the blood god, skulls for the skull throne.

The rules apply to all, be you cetacean, or fetal.

44

@40:

He's just angry that no female will allow him within groping distance of them...

45

" Scientists working with the International Whaling Commission estimate that 300,000 cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises) die each year by entanglement in fishing gear."

https://www.nytimes.com/roomfordebate/2013/01/10/did-we-save-the-whales-19/overfishing-threatens-whales

49

Nader is a lawyer. So what? His family is pursuing a lawsuit against Boeing and the FAA. That means they've already had substantive discussion with experts, you know, aeronautical engineers and the like.

I strongly doubt Nader's blowing smoke, but I don't doubt that those who want to dismiss him are.

Yeah, I suspect Boeing's going to find itself in deeper shit than it's ever been in before in its corporate life.

51

@50 - Other than intervening in an overdose and a clean needle, there's still risk of severe health affects in injecting and thereby such life saving claims are rather disingenuous.

53

@52: Appreciate the link. But there's no reason to get huffy.

54

@53:

With you and Bailo, there's almost ALWAYS a reason to get huffy...

55

@54 No doubt

56

@54: Bailo? SROTU? Hasn't been around in years.

57

Could you imagine modern 19-year old Oberlin students being forced to join the US army. That'd be a riot!

@20 you'd be surprised at how recently many native american groups came to inhabit their "native" lands. Many tribes (especially in the southern plains/SW region, for eg) only came to their ancestral homelands only a few generations before europeans arrived, after genociding rival tribes.

58

Raindrop dear, if my mother had had an abortion, I wouldn't be around to worry about it. Or, if we believe in the soul, I could have caught the next train, as it were.

60

"They feign ignorance of their party's violent racist history."

Oooh, oooooooooh, but I DO Remember!

When The Left's far far FAR "right"-wing Terrorists (huh?) wore those nice, crisp high-thread count sparkling white sheets (with matching hoods) (why not pillow cases?) (fun fashionistic Fascists were they?) so's they could still be considered UP-Standing members of their Community whilst they all went out and Lynched and/or Terrorized anyone not at Least as White as their sheets!

Thanks for the Reminding, Kippered Mars Troll!

Say, do you still have your sheet suite?

61

But, great call on Hillary's NeoLiberalism.

62

Keep it up, keep the pressure on
alienate just enough to assure
another Electoral College
"victory."

Or another Supreme Court Handout...
Thanks, Chief "Justice" Roberts.

Any relation to the Dread Pirate Roberts, I wonder...

64

63

The Terrorists have ALWAYS been on the so-called right.
Hell, even YOU know that, Kipper.

But, nice little try!
Keep fishin', Kippy!

Kippy? Kipper? Skippy?
Oooh -- that's got a Nice Ring to it.
Don't it?
Skippy?

65

Or do you prefer Marse Skippy?

I like it because it -- see how it switches your name backwards whilst denoting the Proper Respect any underling'd need to show someone of Your (obvious) Stature?

Okay.
Great! You'll always be my Marse Skippy to me.

Nicknames ARE fun -- I figure Hell,
if gee dub can do it,
and Donald fucking Trumpfy can do it,
why cain't I?
Why can't WE?!

Care to give it a Stab,
fellow Trolly Troll?
