I respectfully wish that bloggers could express sadness about the destruction of Notre Dame, without the need to jump immediately into side issues.
The fact that Seattleites lose their shit over the possible loss of the Showbox, while debating western vs non-western culture while a worldwide icon burns in Paris, just cements every negative stereotype about American citizens.

The dismissal of Notre Dame is really depressing: especially this piece of "See it in living 3-D!".

Hell, even when the Germans were in retreat in WWII (you know when real life Nazi's were destroying civilization) Hitler ordered the cathedral destroyed (it had originally been spared when France capitulated) but the Nazi general couldn't bring himself to carry out the order risking execution.

But now, it's just a write off

@1 I agree.

I'm glad Terry Gilliam made 12 Monkeys so this guy could hear about La Jetee and go on to write the single most pretentious shitpost by a guy who can't spell Napoleon.

Can you stand inside a 3D projection and look at the ceiling and smell the stone?

Hahaha. The people who don't like this post are stupid as fuck. My first thing I said about this tragedy (while being an atheist myself) was that it might just become a hologram as a replacement. Charles is right on with his speculation. My brother right now is spending his time in Venice 300 miles outside Los Angeles.

Cathedrals were not built to be art exhibits in the first place.

I usually like Charles’s views, but:

Good Evening Charles,
Indeed, there is a church that features computer generated iconography. It's in Oakland. I have visited it:

It's really cool.

Enjoy Toronto. A great city. "NYC, run by the Swiss" -Peter Ustinov

Reminds one of the classic Soviet joke “today you can order steak over the telephone, and receive it over the television.”

The same guy who bemoans the decline of a micro neighborhood of east africans in capitol hill is like, meh, don't worry about the Notre Dame, you can virtual reality it. And like, guess what homie, you can take a train to Pierce County too.
