First thing's first: I apologize for all of the Trump tweets included in this Slog PM. But he is, after all, our president and his tweets are… sigh… news.

More ghosts at Northgate Mall: Nordstrom has announced plans to shut down its Northgate location this August, reports the Seattle Times. The closure comes during a difficult time for both Northgate Mall and Nordstrom. The retailer has been closing under-performing stores while it struggles in a changing retail environment, and Northgate is experiencing a major redevelopment.

Remember when Trump said he's down with the gays?: He's showing it by making sure Pride flags are taken down at U.S. embassies across the globe. NBC News reports the Trump administration is rejecting requests from U.S. embassies to fly Pride flags. This would seem to contradict statements made by Trump earlier this month...

No word yet on whether Straight Pride flags will be flown instead.

Conversely, the rainbow Pride flag is flying for the first time at the Wisconsin Capitol: What the fuck. The first time? Look, I know Wisconsin's most famous gay is Jeffrey Dahmer but this seems a bit behind the times.

The first annual White Center Pride is happening this weekend: While "White" and "Pride" should be words with plenty of space in between them, I assure you this Fest is about the queers and not the KKK. It started on Wednesday but really heats up this weekend. I am packing up my belongings and moving to White Center for the weekend right after I publish this post. The Stranger is sending me to the Fest to write a dispatch for our Pride Issue (out June 19). See you there, bears.

Wow, that was too much gay news: Time for something straight. The straights are apparently outraged after Bainbridge Councilman Ron Peltier proposed to celebrate “I Didn’t Reproduce Day" on "Father's Day" to bring attention to "the Earth’s growing population and the impacts that humans have on the planet," reports the Bainbridge Island Review. Peltier was not kidding and wanted it on next week's business agenda. No other council members supported the proclamation. “As the only person on this council who has not reproduced, I think it’s very insensitive," said fellow Councilwoman Sarah Blossom. Look, I'm never going to reproduce, even though my boyfriend constantly tries to impregnate me. You get over it, people.

Hope this storm doesn't kill me on my way to White Center: Just kidding I'm fine I was born in Florida and therefore have an innately high tolerance for wicked weather and bad behavior. That said, there might be some thunderstorms tonight.

BREAKING: Trump has announced, via tweet (obvi), that the U.S. and Mexico have signed an agreement and tariffs will be avoided.

I'm sure East Coast reporters are pissed to have to go back to work at 9 p.m. But avoiding counterproductive tariffs is always good news. Can’t wait to see those details in…four or five months.

Seattle Times has more pics of Amazon's corpse flower: I'm not in any of them. I know you're disappointed.

In case you missed it: The moon isn't a part of Mars.

Due to the president's mistake and/or clumsy phrasing, many fact checks had to be issued. Even from Moon Pie.

If you're still confused, BuzzFeed News broke down the controversy and what Trump probably sorta meant with his tweet.

Central Park Five prosecutor dropped by her publisher: She has a publisher because the now ex-prosecutor, Linda Fairstein, became a bestselling crime novelist. Er, I mean to say she had a publisher. But they dropped her after a #CancelLindaFairstein movement spread on social media following director Ava DuVernay's Netflix miniseries When They See Us. The show dramatizes the trial.

Coffee is the secret of health and happiness: Says the Financial Times. "More and more studies have proven that coffee not only doesn't cause health problems, but protects against Parkinson’s, liver disease and type 2 diabetes," Financial Times tweeted. I can't read the article because I'm not subscribing to the Financial Times so we're just going to have to go off that tweet. Sad.

The stranded climbers who were rescued from Mt. Rainier speak out: “Every time I go up a mountain, it teaches me a lesson,” said Yev Krasnitskiy, one of the climbers, reports the Seattle Times. The climbers were stuck for several days and were all hypothermic, according to Krasnitskiy. “I just kept yelling out to my friends, ‘We have to get there,'" he said to reporters today.

It's Jasmyne's birthday: She's one of our staff writers, covering visual art, film, and music. In case you didn't know. Don't miss her recent post on Chilean artist Cecilia Vicuña. Say nice things about her in the comments. (Slog is a lawless place, but if you say nasty things I'll ban you 😈)

Release the doves and start crying:

A banner day for Slog: Are you tired? I'm tired! This here Slog PM is Slog's 30th post today! That's two full pages of Sloggin' for your noggin'. This has been the busiest day on the blog since I started. Here are some highlights in case you missed stuff:

  • A new development: Since Facebook and Google banned local political ads in Washington state, they've collectively sold hundreds of them—while refusing to make required disclosures about the ads, reports Eli. Now both companies are under formal investigation by state regulators.

  • Charles wrote about black fungi, nuclear disaster, and Chernobyl.

  • Seattle lawyer and education advocate Girmay Zahilay is running for King County Council—with big endorsements! Even Issa Rae is a fan. Rich has a profile of Zahilay.

  • Nathalie is going to be blogging about the women's world cup this month.

  • Dave wrote a great obituary for Dr. John, a New Orleans swamp-rock/voodoo-funk legend. NOLA is going wild right now; I heard word his second line is happening while I type.

  • Jasmyne reports that the Frye won't voluntarily recognize the newly-formed Art Workers Union.

  • Christopher is raving about ACT's production of Antoinette Nwandu's play, Pass Over. "This is a high-quality production of a play that will shock you, and will take your breath away, and will leave you thinking about the present—and the sweep of history—in a new way," he writes.

  • Katie talks to a Christian 4 Cannabis.

  • 🚨RARE BEER ALERT🚨 Floodland Brewing is doing their second annual tap takeover at the Masonry in Fremont. If you’ve ever wanted to try Floodland, here’s your best chance, writes Lester.

  • Tip for the weekend: There's a free summit shuttle to Discovery Park beach. It picks up at multiple points at Discovery Park, writes MyBallard. I always attempt to get to the beach from the south entrance of Discovery Park but give up after climbing down that big ass cliff.
